Dealership sold my wife a vehicle that is unsafe for the highway according to a certified BMW repair facility in Warrenton, VA. The vehicle had a state inspection sticker of 09/12 on the vehicle. According to the carfax report, the vehicle was in dealers inventory since 12/9/2011. The last state inspection recorded on the carfax report was on 08/15/2008. The mileage that was listed in the advertisment on their website (131,450)was the mileage the vehicle had on it back in 07/15/2010 according to the carfax report. When my wife test drove the vehicle, it had 146,094. The last mileage reported on the report was at 132,000 when it was advertised online on 03/15/2011.
This vehicle did not pass the VA State Inspection or Emission Inspection.
The following items failed:
Rear Brakes, Tires, High Beam Headlight Bulbs INOP, Catalytic Converter Failed
The total cost of repair for this vehicle for the items mentioned above is 4777.00 dollars. The dealership should take ownership on selling a car that was not qualified to be sold in the first place and should not be in business for selling cars unsafe to drive.
When my wife went to purchase the vehicle, she had a blank check from our bank who is doing the financing for us. Dealership would not let her leave with the vehicle until the funds were in their bank account.
Within the first hour of driving the vehicle home, the brake light, service engine light, and ABS light came on. She also had to roll the windows down due to fumes coming inside the vehicle. She notified the dealership via email of the problems with the vehicle. No response back from them. Took vehicle to our BMW repair shop in Warrenton. They told us of the problems mentioned above as well as other problems with the car: engine leak, ABS Brake System problem, etc. Told us they should have not sold this car because it is unsafe to drive.
In the description of the vehicle, it states the following:
We have gone over the mechanicals with a fine tooth comb and CAN ASSURE YOU THAT EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD IS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER. Our inspection of this vehicle confirms that all major mechanicals are in great shape and ready to go.
