USA Athletes International Extortion Attempt Internet

In July of 2007, our son traveled to Italy with a college teammate. First of all, the itinerary promised six games. They played four against extremely weak competition. This outfit made it sound as if the games would be in Rome, Florence, etc. Most of them were in villages. One was played on an out door playground. The kids won their games by an average of sixty points.

We live in Oregon and the tour departed from Newark. they would not allow us to make arrangements for a connecting flight which we could have done for around $199.00 RT. They told us what great deals they got for these flights. We paid all money that they claimed was due as their rules state that you cannot depart without a balance being paid in full.

After he returned from his trip, we sent an additional $100.00 donation check that was made out to USA AI. That was the last we heard from this company. We were never notified that this was received by them.

This past week, 2 1/2 years later, we received a bill for $ 490.00 for the connecting flight- as did my son's teammate.The person whom we dealt with at this company then is no longer an employee. We no longer have old statements or e-mails that document what transpired at the time. We told USA AI that they should check their records and not to contact us again. They responded by  threatening  to refer this to a collection agency. We would have tried to resolve this through the BBB but this company does not belong. I am curious as to whether or not their supposed "non profit" status has ever been investigated.
