I have been getting phone calls for years that say they are Verizon and have to verify yearly that I still want my wireless and home charges on one bill. When they get to the verification part of the call, it says "you agree to have USBI as your long distance provider" I always hang up.
I noticed last month charges from USBI on my bill and they had been charging me for 3 months, first a small amount, then it gradually got to be larger. That's why I didn't notice it at first.
I was able to have $75 removed and a freeze put on the account. I wish Verizon would have done this sooner. I was not credited for $26 and my new bill shows a new $22 charge. Verizon says they can not do anything and that I have to report them to the FCC. When I told the lady at USBI that I would be reporting her company she said "ok".
They recently called me again to try to slam my long distance and threatened to shut off my phone if I didn't verify the one bill thing. When I said I never heard of that, (i've paid my bill every month for 15 years, I doubt they would shut it off) the lady got rude and said "just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it won't happen" I asked for her number, she gave it to me and said it is on the front of my bill, it wasn't. When they call the caller ID says "Christian Myers" and the address is a po box.

ESBI ETS ripoff happened to me, too

Usually I just blindly pay my bills and grumble about how high they are. Not smart, I know, but I have a hard time focusing on small print. Well, I've learned my lesson!
I finally decided to scrutinize our Qwest bill and found a charge on the last page (Enhanced Telecommunications Services, which means nothing to me) charges of $10 for their bill statement fee and $13.95 for "residentialmail mo fee."
When I called Qwest about it, it turns out to be yet another phone scam, in which the vendor swears up and down that you filled out a survey and someone in our house asked that they be our email provider. We have internet and email service. Qwest knows it since we pay for them "silver service."
Anyhow, after a lot of time and patience on the phone, I finally got Qwest to refund the 6 months of charges. (It was first one month, then another, then I asked who I could speak to to have the whole thing refunded since we had not used this service. After a short wait, the customer rep. came back on and said she'd been authorized to refund the whole thing.
Don't give up on the phone and DON'T GET MAD.
Check your phone bills carefully for puzzling charges (cell phone, too).
This internet fraud is just infuriating to me.
