today i received a phone call from my mother about some long distance phone calls that appeared on her telephone bill through USBI. When she called the customer service for USBI they had told her that i (her son) had opened up and account using her phone number, when i know i did not. I do not live with my mother and have not for several years and her phone bill is in her own name and nowhere does mine appear on the bill. When she asked USBI's customer service how the could open an account no her phone line under a name other then hers with out her approval the simply told her that they just match the last names. On the phone bill three phone calls appeared for the dates of may 9, 10, and 11. When my mother asked where or who made the calls the told her they couldn't giver her that information. Which i found to be a little odd that they had policies against giving out information on phone calls made on her phone bill but no policy for getting approval from her to start the service on her phone when it was applied for by somebody else. USBI then sent, in an email, a copy of the application form that i supposedly filled out. On the application it had my name as the applicant, which was entered wrong as my name is a hyphenated last last name and they only used on part of it. The application had my mother's phone number and used my fathers address (parents are divorced so the number and address are at two different locations). The application also had an email address for me the does not exist. It also had a sign up IP address which does not match mine, my fathers, and my mother doesn't have internet.

All of these inconsistencies led me to believe that something wasn't right so i googled the company name and the first entry that showed up was this web sight. After reading over several of the reports i decided to post my own story. As of right now my mother is currently in contact with a family member who works as a reporter for the pennsylvania local news and is bringing this scam to her attention for further investigation. My family member has done this type of thing before using her resources and knowledge to get answers, although not all those stories make the news, she always gets answers.

I will try and post again when i have more information
