USBI Scammers Internet

My latest local phone bill included a charge listed as "USBI" and as "billed on behalf of: MCI" and the charge was for a six-minute call inside the US, for $12.23 plus 1.25 for Universal Service Fund tax.

Problem, though: my own long-distance provider, with whom I have been doing business for many years, had already billed me for that exact phone call...and they billed me 23 cents!

I have never done business with MCI or with USBI, and my local carrier confirmed that my account had not been PICed. However, the local carrier said they could not remove the charges.

After 30 minutes and two lengthy phone calls (two calls because the customer service person disconnected my the first time after I asked to speak to a supervisor), I finally was given a fax number to which I could fax the documentation which proves this USBI charge to be, at least, invalid.

In my opinion, it is fraudulent. This company has many hundreds of complaints registered here, alone, and no telling how many if there were some way to discover all the complaints to all the internet sites or BBB locales or separate state agencies, in addition to the FCC.

I faxed in my documentation, though. I will follow every request exactly, because they are not getting my $13.46. My local carrier has marked that portion of my bill as disputed.
