We found vacation homes only in the classifieds. They were selling a week at a resort that we frequent over spring break 2019. We had a phone call with Nicholis and he explained the costs, fees and accommodations his company was to provide. We then worked out payment terms.
He wanted us to pay by PayPal or do a bank to bank transfer. We told him the only way we would pay would be by credit card - he agreed to take the card but explained there would be a processing fee. We paid the company over a month prior to our vacation set for the Newport coast villas which is a Marriott property in Orange County CA. The company was to provide a two bedroom villa at the resort for 7 nights.
We paid a $500 deposit to hold our reservation then paid nearly $2k after the contract was signed. The week of the vacation we called Marriott to see if our name was on the guest list. It wasn’t. We called and emailed vacation homes only and Nicholis. They were very slow to get back to us and when they did they said everything was going to be fine with the reservation. I asked if our name would be on the guest list. They ignored my question.
We own a time share at the resort and know if your name isn’t on the list you don’t get a villa. I demanded that our name be on the list or we are going to do a charge back on our card and file a complaint against the company. Nicholis called me at nearly midnight and said there was a mistake and our villa got double booked.
He then tried to transfer us into a five night stay. It all sounded fishy and this was after the he and the company assured us everything was ok and confirmed on more than one occasion. Anyway after speaking to Nicholis and getting very firm with him he said he would grant a refund. He emailed some paperwork over and said the refund would process. Two weeks went by and money still hadn’t hit our account.
I texted Nicholis and said we were doing a charge back if the money isn’t in our account by Monday (I sent him the msg on a Friday night). He assured me through text that another mistake had to have been made and that he was going to check with the accounting department. He then tried to discouraged me from doing a charge back saying that would just hold the funds up for another 30 days or longer. I went to the bank on Monday and there was no pending money coming in so i imitated the charge back. Buyer beware with this company.
Btw. If we would have paid by PayPal or did a bank to bank transfer our money would pobably have been gone. Luckily we found another rental through vrbo so we salvaged spring break with our family of 7.
Do your due diligence if you are considering booking with this company.
