My friends and I bought a timeshare in October 2011 and it appears that the resort company referred Vacation Trade World as their closing agent. We paid them over $750 (originally we were being charged $150 more, but I thought I was smart to negotiate them down in price!) in November 2011. Part of this closing cost was the transferrence a deed of a former resort that we owned, which was part of a trade deal we agreed upon. Well, one year later (Nov 2012), I rec'd a bill for our annual maintenance fees from this former Timeshare Resort (in the U.S., by the way - very reputable resort). It appears they still have my friend and I as owners of record on the deed - which means a transfer was never done. I explained to them this whole process and I sent her copies of the emails with Vacation Trade World, but she said, although she "felt" for me, there was nothing she could do because we are still the legal owners! I have sent 3 emails to valuetraded.com, including to those persons named in this complaint. I have yet to hear from them. Today, I decided to do a search of Vacation Trade World to find out if there was a U.S. contact, and I saw the Fraudulent Reports filed against them. Well, it looks like we were bilked as well! We are going to try and contact the resort in Mexico and hope that they will make things right, and if they don't, I will also file a report on them as well.

I just visited the Mayan Palace in Cancun and I regretted so much, at first I was happy because I thought I made a good mayan palace timeshare deal but I didn't, actually I was going to bring my friends from Miami next month for them to see the resort and I am very happy that I'm not going to do it. They told me that they can sell 2 of my weeks a year and I call them and is all lies they told me that I have to do that. I just can't believe I spent 7000.00 in nothing. Do not believe them, they do not care and if you ask them for time to finance with ur bank they say they can't and you won't be able to go back in five yrs. u have to do the deal in the same day and *** us we did it but I will make sure that other people won't make the same mistake than us

Mayan Palace, and any company related to them, it's just a scam, and dealing with Mayan Palace after the purchase of your timeshare can be a little frustrated. Especially because customer service wont get you the answers you expect to get when it comes on how to use your timeshare or trying to Book your next vacations, lucky if you are able to do book anything. This is a good article from Mexican Timeshare Solutions on how most of Mayan Palace Timeshare Scams are being committed:
