We received an offer in the mail for two free airline tickets from an unnamed company with a telephone number to call. I made the call and made an appointment to hear the travel program presentation. When we arrived, there were several "RED flag" situations we noticed, but since we had no intention of buying we dismissed them. The previous post (which I am using appliable parts) dated January 14, 2012 sums up our experience with a few minor difference.

When we arrived at the location, the presenter was in the parking lot directing us inside the building - odd. We went into the suite (no identifying name, just the suite #) where we filled out a form, and to presented our drivers license and a major credit card. A rep walked us from the reception area to a small office where he inquired about our travel preferences. (When I made the appointment, I was told there would be no one-on-one sales pitch; but that we would be in a room with about 50 people). We were then taken to the large room with about 16 seats available. There were 3 couples in the presentation. The presenter told his personal sad story, then how he found Jesus and a lot of praise talk in between. He claimed to be attending Bible school to become a preacher.

During the slide presentation, he showed beautiful resort locations with dozens of condos where members can make a one week reservations at a cost anywhere between $200 and $900 for luxury condos. We were told this company has been around for over 30 years and has the buying power to pass off the best deals in the industry. We were shown a printed out stack of supposed last minute deals and promised a wonderful relaxing experience. Toward the end of this very well orchestrated presentation, they throw out a price of $8993 for a lifetime membership which guarantees four one week vacations plus unlimited last minute deals.

The presentation moves from these fabulous deals to the investment potential and how this deal can be passed down to family in your will. There's a lot of outrageous math to get you emotionally pumped up at the opportunity they're offering. At this point, the presentation ends and we're once again shuffled off to our private offices with our personal sales consultant. Since we enjoy cruising, I inquired about that pricing. We were told that we would get at least a 30% discount off the lowest advertised cruise rate. Now is where the emotional pressure begins, the numbers get thrown around and that special offer
just for you (with the promise not to tell anybody our price).  Since we were not interested in the $8993 price, we then were offered two weeks for $4802 minus the $1000 certificate they supposedly gave us. I asked about their pricing on two cruises we were interested in, and the rep brought in the presenter who looked up the cruise on the computer, and stated that their discount was at least 30% below that rate. Unlike the person who posted on January 14, 2012, we took the bate and purchased the travel package. While they were processing our document and credit card payment, I called the travel reservation office to get pricing on the cruise not listed on their website. To my dismay, the price of the cruise was much higher than the rate I have paid a deposit on.

At this point, the alarm bell is going off in my head. I called my credit card holder and explained the situation and asked them to hold the payment, which they listed as pending. They were unable to hold the pending payment of $4299.  I spoke with the presenter "director" about the cruise rate information, he stated that it takes 24 hours for their accounting office to process my discount eligibility. He told me to call back after that time, and if I did not get the promised discount, and was dissatisfied with the program, as one Christian to another, he would give me back the full payment. The following business day I again called the reservations office number listed in my purchase package, and was informed that they do not offer any discount, just reward credit after your return from a cruise.

Vacation UR Way contract offers a five day cancellation period, but the client forfiets 50% of the payment. We were lied to on several occasions, and have reported this fraud/scam to the Richardson Police Department. When we arrived at their offfice, we applied for the free international airline vouchers, but have to pay $199 per person for them.  Needless to say, we are not going to spend more good money on more bad promises.  We  would have to send in the money, then someone would contact us back.

I hope this information helps someone else.
