I filled out a raffle type ticket at a IHOP. And boom; got a call saying I won a 3night stay at Kissimee FL. however, after hearing about  a 50 dollar gaurantee charge-refundable, charged to me to make sure I show up at their hotel in Kissimee. I asked them what if there is a discrepency on my credit card they said dont worry, Ihop will re-emburse me because they allowed the box in their resturant. Plus, since Ihop was supposed to give me some kind of code ( which they didn't) it showed they knew of the company.

I needed to buy time so when they asked me for the 50 dollars I said "shucks I dont have my credit card on me--they said immediatley "this was a one call offer goodbye!".

I called IHOP--they said they dont know about the company, code numbers, nor would they re-emburse me any thing.

DONT BE SCAMMED-- if they can give hotel, arabian nights resturant, and 50 gift card for free--why put a 50 dollar charge--as the qualifying rule???  Its a SCAM

I do agree with what you did but there is actually another possibility.  Many hotels require that you have a credit card on file with them and when you file they put a $50 charge on the card and immediately put a hold on it, this is done to ensure that there is money available for them should you take anything from the in room snacks, or drinks, or should any damage happen to the room.

Given the way the people on the phone reacted when you told them that you didn't have a card available at the moment i would tend to agree with you that it might not have been totally legitimate.
