I visited the rip off garage last week for a NYS inspection. I decided to use this garage because I found a coupon in the phone book for $10 off a NYS inspection. After completing the inspection I was approached with a $470.00 bill for repairs on a car that was only 4 years old. I told them they were out of their minds!
They concluded that I needed new brakes and new rotors to mention a few. Well, my brakes were replaced by the dealer not more than 6 months ago, both front and rear rotors were not scored and completely shiny. I agreed that the front brake pads needed to be replaced and the mechanic said that it would be $50 for the brakes plus $40 installation, now the place had a sign in front for a $50 brake job, yeah right. He failed my inspection and said that those parts must be replaced. I was furious there was no way that this car needed $470 worth of repairs and sent us on our way wiout a temporary inspection sticker, which means if I got pulled over by an officer it would be a $75 fine. I went for a second opinion at the dealer I bought the car from. Note, I had to pay again for the inspection! The dealer did agree that the front brake pads needed to be replaced. He gladly replaced the front pads for only $25 and said that the car was in impecable condition. Valu Brake and Muffler is a scam!

of course the dealer who sold this person is going to put pads on for basicly nothing ... because they probably made 1000 dollas plus on the sale !!... when ever you do brake repairs it is recommended that the vehicle be brought back to like new condition as an ase certified tech ... a recommend proper brake service for under 500 dollars is a reasonable price ...obviously the car dealer only did the bare pads cheap ones at cost ... just to barely get it to pass sad but true....

IN NEW YORK STATE WHEN A VEHICLE FAILS A SAFETY INSPECTION THERE IS NO EXTENSION OR TEMP. INSPECTION STICKER ISSUED. THIS IS A NYS DMV POLICY....NOT A VALU AUTO CARE POLICY. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHICH DEALER REPLACED BRAKES FOR $25.00 - I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MINE DONE THERE.
