On 7/12/04(Monday) I went into the store and purchase a 2 piece Sofa and Loveseat Set that was Advertised for $599.00. I paid a total of $719.93, which included delivery. At the time of purchase I was told by the saleperson that the items was in stock.

On 7/13/04(Tuesday) I received a call from one of the customer service rep. and she stated that the items was out of stock and I would be receiving the item until next week, Wednesday or Thursday. She was very nasty when I asked her why was I told the items was in and they wasn't, she stated she didn't have an answer for me. She was so nasty and rude that she slam the phone down in my face. This show very poor customer service. She was very unprofessional, representing a large company as Value City. She told me I could cancel the order if I couldn't wait. I told her that I wanted the items, so I would have to wait until then.

On 7/21/04(Wednesday) I called the store after the day was just about over and no one called me to confirm my delivery date for this week. I called and asked for my salesperson and I told her what I was told and she stated that the items would not be shipped until the 2nd week or later in August. I explained to her what I was told by the customer service rep. and she stated that I could come in and look for something else or cancel the order. I told her that this was poor management for the staff at Value City becuase someone could have told me that the furniture was not going to be delivered this week as stated from the customer service rep. I was very unhappy with the service from Value City. I have shopped and the Taylor and Ohio located on several occasions but I was never treated this way.

After talking to the saleperson I decided to cancel the order and get a refund to go to another store. When I asked the customer service rep for a refund I was told that they don't issue check from that location and that it have to come out of their corp office and this would take 10-14 business days to mail it out. Why would I have to wait to get my money when I paid cash for my items. It's going to take about a month before I will get my money and that means that my house will be to be empty until then.

Sadly about all of this no one seem to care. I plan on tell everyone in my workplace, family and friend about what happen and I'm telling everyone to go to another store, not VALUE CITY.

I work for a very good company as a manager and one thing that I point out to all my employees is that customer satisfacation is a must if a company plans to stay around for a long period of time. This Dearborn Value City have the most unprofessional staff and the managers don't semm to care. Maybe they need to see how we as paying customers feel. So, if the managers are unprofessional, what do we expect from the staff??

I too, know of the struggle in dealing with this store. I have a laundry list myself of complaints about that store and their "service" (if that's what you could call it). I have dealt with the one in Warren. I had purchased furniture 10/03 and by 02/04 the stitching had come apart on EVERY couch/loveseat cushion cover. Then, huh, to get my furniture fixed, they came out, said they can't repair, will have to order new cushion covers. That was the very beginning of March. They still have not come in!!! They told me I could "re-select" furniture, for what I paid for mine, and they're even jerks about that. They only gave me 30 days to do this, and didn't even tell me I only had 30 days! Phone calls and emails go unanswered...it just goes on and on.
Never again!
