I was contacted by Vanguard Management Group about interviewing with a specific medical device company that I am interested in working for. I was instructed to sign up for an interview time at the location that the interviews were to be conducted. I did this, and received a confirmation email stating that I have secured the interview with the specific organization for time that I wanted.
When I showed up for the "interview" there were approximately 20 other candidates there. After waiting for about a half an hour we were all led into a room where the Vanguard employee gave an overview of the companies that were present and qualifications for each. Each of the other organizations that were in attendance were companies that have reputations as people mills.
After wasting another half an hour with the Vanguard employee telling everyone to keep an open mind, and to interview with as many of these "excellent organizations" as time permits, he went on to market Vanguard's resume writing services.
This has been more of a waste of time than anything. I took the morning off from my current job specifically to interview with the medical device company. I was led to believe that I had a specific secured 1 on 1 interview time. Instead, what I got was information on a resume writing service, not to mention that I did not even get to interview with the company that I was scheduled for due to time constraints.
Finally, when I left this event, I talked with one of the other candidates in attendance. He too was led to believe that he had a scheduled interview with the medical device company only to be disappointed as well.
I would recommend that you not attend any event/scheduled interview that this organization sets for you. You will undoubtedly be very disappointed as I was.

I too am job hunting and applied for a particular position with the actual company posted but when the application opened it was Vanguard's application. This does happen from time to to but I thought nothing of it because many times a recruiter is working on the job order. I completed the application.
Soon thereafter I was contacted by Vangard (via email) regarding a date, available time, location etc. for a face to face interview but said nothing regarding the specific position I had applied to.
I emailed Vanguard back asking is it for "xyz" position and did not receive a response regarding that particular position. I did though received a confirmation for the time I had and a list of openings they currently had and to keep an open mind.
I was only interested in that particular position and after checking out Vanguard's website it became pretty apparent to me that this was a method of gathering applicants for basically a job fair for mostly entry level positions and I am in a much more experieced level (as was the "one" position I had orginally applied for). I did not attend.
I find it to be an annoying "bait and switch" tactic on Vanguard's part to lure candidates in. Why not just be up front and call it what it is. A "job fair" and seminars regarding their (Vanguard's) services.
I'm sure they are a fine reputable company but this tactic could backfire in the long run.

I am sorry to hear your initial impression with our firm was not positive. Candidly, we assist tens of thousands of sales candidates every year in their job search and it is impossible to please them all. We have been in this industry for 22 years and have accumulated very few negative reviews out of 100s of thousands of candidates assisted. That is actually better than any of the Fortune 500 firms we serve. To reiterate our candidate satisfaction rate is higher than any Fortune 500 firm in the US.
Honestly, the only complaints we receive are from job seekers who were unqualified to interview with a client based on hiring criteria or candidates who have never utilized our service and are making assumptions. Please remember this service does not cost a thing to the candidates and has impacted many lives in a positive manner. In this economy we are proud to help Americans find jobs and it would be reprehensible for any person to try and steal an opportunity away from another with misinformation.
This complaint is not an accurate representation of our service and I am more than happy to speak to anyone live about the services we offer.
