I was scammed by Adult Friend Finder.

I advertised for them... Placing their ads on my websites. Being promised 1/2 penny per unique IP that visited the site.

I sent a little more than 10,000 unique IP web hits to them, and 1 Sign-up, accruing the minimum $50 payout. This took me 7 months. I was never paid, and my affiliate account was "converted" to another plan? Thus losing all my money earned.

Here's is there scam on the advertisers:

AFF's small print: "Important: if your traffic produces less than 1 FREE signup in 20 visitors your account may be converted into a "percentage payout" account at anytime after you've sent 500 uniques or 3 days."

What they do, and how they do it:

I was getting excited! $49.99, almost time to collect that first $50 payment I had waited for.

They have a chart/diagram laying out all your statistics. It showed all the hits I had received and kept track of the amount owed. It showed I was getting paid my 1/2 penny per unique IP. I had been watching this chart over the months... watching my pennies grow into dollars. I was proud to have designed my sites, and proud to advertise, and I was proud to receive my first check.

ABRACADABRA. $50 are accrued.... and my account is converted to "Percentage Payout" instead of "Paid Per Click"

I log on to see all my hits are there... and my balance set to 10 cents for my one sign-up. All those 1/2 pennies... GONE!

Coincidentally when I accrue the minimum payout my account is converted!

You would think over the 7 months I advertised for them, they would have converted me to the "Percentage Payout"....

Not until you accrue that first payment that is owed!

I will continue to tell everyone about this, and spread this information around the internet.
