Vaughan-Bassett And S And L Furniture Vaughan Bassett and S and L Furniture will not stand behind defective products. Hawkins Texas

I purchased a bedroom set from S and L Furniture a year ago. Before the limited one year warranty was up I contacted S and L about my night stands peeling. They quickly blamed me for the damage, sight unseen. It took 4 weeks before I could get someone from Vaughan Bassett or S and L Furniture to come out and look at the furniture. Both the sales rep from Vaughan Bassett and the owner from S and L come to look. The owner of S and L wouldn't say a word to me or even look at me the entire time they were in my home. The sales rep told me that I had spilled water on the tables and that was what caused the damage. After telling them several times that I had not had any liquid on these tables, he then turned to me and asked what type of polish I used and did I spray it on the furniture or on a cloth. I told him I used a name brand polish and put it on the cloth. The sales rep then told me that was my problem that you should never use polish on these tables only use a dry cloth. No matter what I said the sales rep had a reason why this was my fault. They refuse to take the furniture back and only offer me to replace the tops.


This was not acceptable to me. If I am having this much trouble in less than a year I fear I will have additional problems in the future. I decided to take the tables to a wood repair show that has been in business for more than 30 years to see what he said caused this problem. After looking at the tables he told me the cause of the damage was due to not preparing the wood correctly. Now the wood is drying out and causing the tables to crack and peel. He told me he has seen this problem before especially when companies manufacture products out of the US.

I have emailed Vaughan Bassett to notify them of the cause on July 1, 2009 as of July 12, 2009 I have not received a reply from their Vice-President, Customer Service Manager.

I paid over $3000.00 dollars for this bedroom set and I will never buy anything from S and L Furniture or Vaughan Bassett again.
