Ventura IT Solutions web hosting business at HostBandit.com totally ripped me off. They had a 5 day satisfaction guarantee and cheap services so I thought I'd give em a try, how bad could it be? Well I wanted a Google Blogger blog setup for my site and in Googles tutorial for setting it up they needed a CNAME record added. I couldn't do it through their panel and so I asked for support. They said they wouldn't do this for me. So I asked for my refund. They told me I had to fill out a form with my personal information, get a copy of a government issued ID and mail both to them in order to get my refund. I asked them to give me the justification for mailing them a form with my personal information and a copy of my ID for a simple refund of web hosting services. They never answered. Plus I had 3 days to get this stuff to them. At the bottom of their website, they have a link to their Terms of Service. I never officially agreed to their TOS at any point of signing up for their services.

They only have a link to it hidden at the bottom. The TOS says I can't mail them the form via signature required mail, and they go on to say they're not responsible for lost mail. So basically, you have no way of ensuring they get your form/ID, which is bull anyways. I paid with PayPal and they denied my claim saying they only decide on shipped goods. Keep that in mind before doing service based business with someone that takes PayPal for payments. I filed a better business bureau complaint and we'll see what they say... Also note, they tried enticing me to send them the form by telling me they would offer me this and that, well at the bottom of these e-mails it said, "legal notice: nothing in this e-mail is a promise, blah blah blah, this e-mail is private and can't be reproduced." These guys think they're smart, well this is as unethical as a business can get right here. They offer other services like search engine optimization and other stuff but honestly, I don't know who in the heck would want to do business with these scammers. They basically robbed me for $12, pretty sad really. I know times are rough but they must be really rough if you resort to robbing someone over the net for $12.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

$1 web hosting

AUTHOR: hostbandit - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, March 06, 2011

HostBandit offers one of the lowest, if not the lowest, priced full
featured web hosting services in the world.  For $1/month you get world
class web hosting.  This is on average 5 times lower cost than our
competitors.  We also give you $500 of search engine optimization
services free just to thank you for being a customer.  We have a list of
hundreds of happy customers web site addresses (domains/urls) listed on
our site and offer free 24 hour support via an online support ticket
setup and a toll free telephone number.  We usually answer support
tickets within minutes of receiving them and we process new account
signups as soon as they are received.  HostBandit strives to keep things
simple and low cost in order to make things easy for you.

Having said this we do have some rules and regulations that are clearly
listed on our site and all users must abide by them.  This is the only
way we can provide such low cost $1 web hosting and provide excellent
customer service and support.

We have testimonials listed on our site from happy customers that you can see at http://hostbandit.com.

In response to the above complaint:

"HostBandit.com totally ripped me off"

1) We have one of the best customer service and support programs and we only charge $1/month and we provided the exact services as advertised plus we offer services for free just to thank you for ordering from HostBandit!  We want to say thank you to all our happy customers!

"needed a CNAME record added"

2) We apologize but this is not a service we offer since it is not a normal service associated with basic web hosting, it is usually reserved for dedicated or colocated servers, 99% of our customers don't even know what a CNAME is so we don't offer this service and we never advertised or promised to offer it.

"They basically robbed me for $12"

3) We are happy to refund your $12.  It's really important that we have you verify your identity so we can prevent fraud, spamming, and the like.  Just email us with the required identification materials and we'll refund your money today.

4) We even offered this customer free hosting for the rest of their lives and $600 free services but they refused.

"We are sorry you feel that way.  Since we'll do anything we can to make
you happy we offer you free hosting for life for you and a friend of
your choosing.  That's right.  You'll never have to pay for hosting
again.

If this still doesn't make you happy then just let me know what we
can do to please you since your satisfaction is our #1 concern.

To
be even more supportive of you and your web hosting we will give you 6
months free of our $100/month SEO service.  This is over $600 to
apologize for not offering the service that you want.

To
take advantage of this offer just fill out the hostbandit refund
form.pdf form and then email [email address removed] notifying us of
your two lifetime free domains and the domain you want the $600 free s****.> service."

5) We have an excellent record and hundreds of happy customers and near 100% uptime.
