Veritas Instruments Rented Instrument in 2005. Veritas moved. being charged for time it took to find their new location. No contact for years. They have begun new collection letters and derogatory comments on credit. Pinellas Park, Florida

I rented an instrument from Veritas in Tucker, Georgia in 2005. When I went to return the instrument the store had closed with only a note on the door. There was not a forwarding address or phone. Calls to the store number went unanswered. I was finally contacted via collection efforts. I immediately attempted to return the instrument to the address given. The store could not be found easliy. I was told they would issue  call tags and have the instrument picked up but they never did. I continued to try to locate the store. I went into several stores on Main Street but no one knew who they were or where they were. Finally, after months of efforts to find them Under the direction of DeKalb County police dept. i was directed to the  location. The store was not on the street given to me but in an obscure area behind the main street on a one lane unpaved road next to a railroad track.  They were the only open business in this deserted area.  I returned the instrument and I signed the receipt.  3 weeks later I was called and asked where the instrument was. I advised them the instrument was returned and gave them the exact date. they argued that it was not there. They rudely asked for a copy of the receipt which I faxed over. I was told that the instrument was in fact there but had not been logged in properly. I was told the account would be settled.  A month later I received another collection letter where I was being charged for the time it took to find the new location and the time they could not locate the instrument in their own store. I refused to pay it. I was rudely advised that the account would be turned over to collections and my credit ruined. I still refused to pay a debt I did not owe. I didnot hear from them for years and have recently started receiving collection letters now that the debt is approaching 7 years.
