Verizon Wireless - The Communications Place ripoff Portage Indiana

My husband and I got new cell phones in the spring April. We chose a two identical phones and a shared plan that cost $79.99 per month. We signed a two year contract believing that we were going to have two functional phones. We were wrong.

I had to return my phone the very next day because it never had service. I was given a new phone that seemed to work. I was teaching about 30 minutes from home. The school I was at often had problems because there were so many teachers and only 3 available phones. I needed my cell phone to communicate with parents and such after school (I began doing this at the beginning of the year when I was with another company and never had any problems). The main problem was that I was unable to get service when at school. I could not be in my classroom or even in the building. The only signal I could get was in the parking lot and it was barely there.

The other problem was that I had to drive through some "rough" neighborhoods everyday. Luckily, nothing ever happened that required an emergency call, because I never had a signal. Needless to say I took the phone back after having it a week because the service was not meeting my needs. I was told a bunch of BS, but the eventually gave me a new phone. A "better" phone, but only because I hadn't sent in my rebate. Of course, this new and better phone made no difference because the problem wasn't the phone...it is the service.

Anyway, I dealt with it until school was out before I went back to complain once again. I lost it when I tried to order a pizza to take home, but couldn't get any service until I was parked outside the restaurant... which happens wo be right next to the Verizon store! This time I also took my mom who was also upset with her Verizon service. We were told some more BS about towers being down, possibly internal problems with the phone, blah blah blah, etc... They decided to send the phones out to have them looked at. We were given temporary phones which never worked right either.

A month or so later the phones were returned with no reported problems, but they still do not work. I complained once again about having purchased phones that never work and paying a bill for a service that was never received. I was told I could buy my way out of the contract. I found this to be very irritating for many reasons: 1) The bill has always been way more than the original 79.99. My last bill was over $100 and I didn't even come close to using up my minutes. 2) I am paying this bill for minutes that are never used b/c there is never any service 3) I purchased both phones when they had rebates on them , but never took advantage of the rebate because they would not take back the phone if I did. The rebate expired while I waited. 4) I signed a 2 year contract assuming I would be able to make calls. I signed up for a service that was never provided to my satisfaction.

Verizon says that they "never stop working for you." The only thing they work for is getting your money and giving you nothing in return. Not even what you paid for.
