I have been doing business with Verizon for several years. Every year they want more money for the same add.
I was contacted by one of the sales agents regarding placing a new add in the yellow pages. I told the agent that I was not going to renew the add because it was not effective. The agent stopped by my office to convince me that it would be a great mistake not to renew my add. I told the agent at that time that the add was not profitable and I would not be using the yellow pages to help market my company.
Weeks went by and the sales agent called me and said he wanted to stop by with his sales manager. I agreed to this meeting. I sat down with the sales manager and explained to her that it did not make sense to advertise with the yellow pages becauase i did not recieve enough calls from the add. She said that I was a valued customer and Verizon did not want to lose me as a customer.
The manager said that she wanted to keep me as a client and she would offer me an add with full color for the price of black and white. This add that she offered me was 3 X more expensive than the one I had but she would agree to only bill me for black and white if I placed another add.
I agreed to the add because I was getting full color on the add and I only had to pay for the black and white. Guess What!!!!!!!!! They printed last years add. They are still billing me and now I have my Lawyer working on getting this issue resolved.
I have emails from verizon and it is very clear that they made and mistake but they still want for me to pay for the add in full. If anyone has had the same experience please get in touch with me so I can forward your information over to my Lawyer when we go to court.

I am working with a client right now where the Verizon representative ran a coupon for my client without my client's approval. Verizon never presented proofs for approval before running the advertisement. The also double the price over the price for the previous listing.

The unfortunate thing is that not only does the customer get shafted,employees that are customer focused are affected too. Their may be a class action suit soon which will include all customers of Verizon Yellow Pages nationally who have been mislead fraudulantly. Keep your eyes open for any news soon to come on this issue.
