VIP Auto, VIP Parts, Tires And Service Be careful about oil change discounts Waterville Maine

My wife went to VIP Auto in Waterville maine for an oil chance, with a discount coupon from the paper. I told her to make sure she got standard 5w-30 oil in the car, which is what the manual specifies. When she got there they told her that her car needed a special kind of 5w-20 oil and didn't qualify for the discount. She had the job done and when she told me about it, I called and the manager denied that they had told my wife she needed special oil or wouldn't qualify for the discount even though they hadn't given it to her. She went back the next day (bearing the expense of the 30 mile roundtrip) and they refunded her the discount.

On the issue of 5w-20 vs. 5w-30, the manager insisted that 5w-20 was correct, even though the factory manual specified 5w-20. I am going to change the oil myself to 5w-30 as soon as it starts to get warm this summer.

Not real happy with VIP. A more suspicious person might think they were taking advantage of my wife's limited knowledge of cars.
