We hired Virginia's All American Movers in November 2016 because we had used them previously and had a decent experience, so I didn't think we would get royally screwed. We hired them to do a move from North Carolina to Central Florida. They quoted us $2,200 which supposedly included a month of free storage. Although the quote was higher than another company, we used them based on prior experience. We were going to move back to Virginia two hours away from the storage facility and asked Ken Pugh, the owner, about reimbursing us some of the money as we paid up front IN FULL for a move to Florida. He refused to do that claiming a"all the money he has to pay his movers", which according to
his employees is only about $9.00 per hour. We ended up only moving one state away to S. Carolina. The company was supposed to call us to confirm they had received our new phone numbers so they could call us when they were an hour away. Multiple phone calls, text messages and emails later, we never received a call back. I had the drivers number from the previous move and was finally able to contact him to confirm his ETA. When the truck arrived (later than we were told), we had a lot of damaged and missing items. One of our boxes had been opened, items were AWOL, and there was damage to various pieces of furniture. My curio cabinet wouldn't shut, two chairs to a brand new $1,000 dining room set
which we sat on once had chunks of wood missing, a wood cabinet had a chunk missing, a new glass top patio table had broken leg and had to throw it away, newer headboard was stained and had missing parts (we had to throw it away), there was missing pieces to a $350 book case so we weren't able to affix the shelves, a new floor lamp that was missing, and the list goes on. As if this weren't bad enough, my husband overheard the two movers laughing and made a comment that they thought "this was hysterical". We brought this to the attention of Ken Pugh who non chanantly stated that he didn't intend on paying for the damaged property. He told my husband that he would give .60/pound as we didn't
carry insurance, and had a problem even wanting to reimburse us $100 - however, the company never provided us with a bill of lading, any information on poundage, a check off list, or anything else that a reputable company is supposed to do. There is an estimated $600 minimum in damage and missing items, as well as the fact that the charge of $2,200 was excessive as the move was for a greater distance. AT THE MOST, we should have only been charged $1,100 and thats even questionable based on milegae. When we asked him about the overage on the moving costs and explained that he charged us $1,400 to move one state away from VA to NC, and this time only moved from NC to SC instead of all the way
to FL, he refused to reimburse us any of the money. So we were charged $2,200 for a move that took 3 hours and suffered multiple issues. This guy told me in November when I called for a quote that they "needed my business' and they would earn my trust. When we initially told him about the damage we were seeing he stated he would "make everything right." Apparently he is nothing more than a money hungry liar. I would NEVER use or recommend this company to anyone. The price was exorbitant, they raked us over the coals, had no concern for us as customers or for our belongings, and caused more stress and financial hardship than the moving itself. Worst moving company experience EVER.

Everything VAAM's has stated is completely irrelevant. We were more than ready to utilize the other company at a higher rate. VAAM are the ones who sent me an email asking me to hold off so they could come in at a lower quote because they "were really slow and need the business." Also the extra 2 blocks to a storage unit as well as the "free month" (which is standard in the business with any company I spoke with) and change in delivery date is nothing out of the ordinary. If you are a true " moving company" these are normal variants. It doesnt give someone the right to trash your property, fail to follow through or steal belongings and money from you. The moving boxes were standard industry quality, including heavy duty, that moving companies and movers in general use. Bottom line: they have a "dont give a s**t" attitude, horrible customer service, unethical/dishonest business practices and are theifs. As far as a $200 check: We did not accept any checks from them. We requested $600 in damages and half of the moving costs refunded. It stands to reason that any reputable company wouldnt take money for a move that never happened. I assure you that their loss of business will exceed $200 as we have every intention of letting it be known, by whatever means necessary, what kind of scammers they are, and continue to follow up with higher authorities. Also they had no right publishing our phone numbers or addresses. Shows you what kind of slime they are.

Yes this customer did pay in advance at their request. We do not require customers to pay until delivery. This customer wrote us up from their last move and then returned to us for their second move. They negotiated, as they did their first move, that we match another quote for them to use our services. The price we matched was $1176 lower than our original price to be lower then the quote she stated in her email that was $1000 lower than our quote. Those quotes were from Winston Salem NC to Ocala Florida and a second quote from Winston Salem NC to Sebastian Florida. They do not tell you that after the quote they asked for a second stop at storage blocks away to load some items, we did free of charge, and then a last minute cancellation at 3:30 in the morning the day of the move after they requested an early morning delivery, a move that we had already loaded the truck for and then had to unload it back to storage since the move date was stated “until further notice”. They do not well you that they used us before threatened us to return money and when they were not happy with our response they wrote us up on your sight. Yet they come back again for a second move and it ends up with the same ending, they want money back after we lowered our pricing with an email they are going to a lower priced mover. Confirmation that they packed their own boxes: Email from Customer: Lori Crapser <loricx3sons@gmail.com> Reply all | Wed 11/30/2016, 4:36 PM All-American Movers ... Denise-I am trying to get a more accurate box count and it looks like between 53-58ish. There are things that Im counting as boxes like the dresser mirror, bass guitar, etc so Im not sure if they are considered "boxes". We are finishing packing tonight and when we get up at 5:00 so we will be done when the guys get here at 7ish. Sorry it took me a while to get that info back to you. Lori Correct they changed their move on Dec 1, 2016 from Winston Salem, NC to Ocala Florida to Winston Salem to our Storage Unit, 1st month storage charge free. Dec 9 2016: Move changed to 156 Robin Circle Bristol VA 24202 From: David Crapser <davecx3@gmail.com> Sent: Monday, November 28, 2016 8:11 AM To: All-American Movers Subject: Re: Date of Move and Rain Well I hate to wait another day but i guess lets do it Thursday morning. Don't want the guys getting soaked in the rain or our stuff getting ruined. Ken told Lori that he would schedule it for the same as last time-I think between 7:30 and 8:00 am. Please confirm thats when the guys will be here Thursday morning. Also send us the form for payment. Thanks. Dave David Crapser <davecx3@gmail.com> This move was changed to Friday Dec 9, 2016. This is the next email we receive at 3:30 am the day of the move: Reply all | Fri 12/9/2016, 3:30 AM All-American Movers; Ken Pugh ... DENISE-DO NOT DELIVER OUR STUFF TO BRISTOL TODAY!!! WE ARE ON OUR WAY DOWN TO FLORIDA. HAVE A FAMILY EMERGENCY WE WERE NOTIFIED OF AT 2:15 AM THIS MORNING. WE WILL NOT BE LIVING IN VIRGINIA. HOLD ONTO OUR BELONGINGS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. WE ARE STILL COVERED UNDER THE 30 DAYS OF FREE STORAGE UNTIL JANUARY 1, 2017. AS SOON AS WE GET THERE I WILL CALL YOU WITH EITHER A STORAGE UNIT TO DELIVER TO OR A RESIDENCE. WILL LET YOU KNOW ASAP. DAVE CRAPSER. We then had to unload the truck back to storage since they stated in this same email until further notice. A load and unload cost us payroll money. Dec 15, 2016: They called to have their move changed to 101 Chandler Road Apt #426 Greer SC 29651 David Crapser <davecx3@gmail.com> Reply all | Thu 12/15/2016, 3:34 PM All-American Movers; Ken Pugh ... Need to let the complex know so they can do a pro ration. Thank you. Dave Crapser Sent from my iPhone David Crapser <davecx3@gmail.com> Reply all | Thu 12/15/2016, 4:53 PM All-American Movers; Ken Pugh ... Denise-I spoke with Ken regarding the delivery date. Originally he said it would be Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. When I spoke with him last he said probably not Monday, so to save the hassle we are going with the latest of the three days he offered us and we would like delivery on Wednesday December 21st. This should be enough time for him to get everything scheduled and delivered. Need to confirm this as we need to sign a lease and they are charging us from the delivery date forward that I need to prepay them and they cant draw up a contract until I confirm. The address is 101 Chandler Road, Apt #426, Greer SC 29651. Please confirm as well as giving me a 2 hour time window. Need to work out the day and time with employer as well. Dave Crapser Sent from my iPhone They then called for us to move them to 14109 Three Springs Trail Greenville SC 29615 set for Dec 21, 2016. Another address change. Of course we would make the change they are our customer. We would just like you to have all of the facts. Dave Crapser Sent from my iPhone We sent a check for $200 to return to the customer for damage claims. They do not let you know that they packed their own boxes. Not our moving box strength. (See 1st Email) In summary a job we charged $2198.74 less $200 for damages following our policy that was originally quoted as $3375.00 on Nov. 21, 2016. Matched the pricing she gave us. We even included a free stop at a storage unit blocks away to get additional items after she accepted the original terms. This new quote also included the first month of storage free.
