VITAS Healthcare is NOT the compassionate work place it should be.  The company is money driven which does not mix well with caring Hospice philosophical ideation.  Older nurses and office staff are forced out on trumped up charges of negligence or misconduct.  Vitas does not want to pay higher wages on long term staff.  It's all about the buck, my friends.   No compassion only paranoia shown if an  employee becomes chronically or terminally ill.  One social worker dying of cancer was severed from her health insurance and the staff took up a collection for her. She died penniless with no hospice support. The Life Insurance they offer as a benefit is practically worthless. You have to die within 2 weeks of your last working day.   Other former employees were forced to retain attorneys to gain the Workers Comp and Disability Benefits which were due them by Vitas. This is a sad state when a healthcare company treats workers so shabbily.
