I received an offer to try Vivalux skincare products for free. Well, nothing is ever free. I signed up for the free trial and was charged $4.95 for shipping. 14 days later, I received my face cream. Everything is well and good, but I know how these companies work, so the next day after I receive my order, I called to cancel my account so I wouldn't receive anymore shipments & charges. After a phone call and a few emails back and forth, Vivalux canceled my account for me. All is good...
Until I get my bank statement in and find out that I was charged nearly $100 for the small jar of face cream. When I called to complain about it, the customer service rep couldn't offer any assistance beyond reciting, "it's in the Terms and Conditions." When I asked to talk to her supervisor, she hung up on me. RED FLAG SCAM ALERT!!
After many emails back and forth with a Ms. Katie Thompson, the customer service supervisor, I was offered a partial refund, which lowered the total amount charged to $40 plus the $4.95 shipping fee. I haven't seen any refund on my back statement yet.
My biggest complaint was that they started the 14-day trial period on the night I placed my order, but I didn't receive the cream until AFTER the 14-day trial period had ended. A direct quote from an email from vivalux: "we did not receive a cancellation request from you in the allotted time, so we naturally assumed that you enjoyed the product and charged you accordingly."
How can I enjoy a product that I didn't receive until after the trial period was up? I called to cancel the account as soon as I received my product. I couldn't have called any sooner, but they still want to charge me.
The face cream seemed like it tightened my skin, but then I started getting rashes from it. The customer service reps were helpful for the most part, except for the one offensive female representative who was rude and hung up on me. Don't waste your money on vivalux. If it seems too good to be true, it is. It's another interenet scam.
