This Company's distributor program is a big ripoff, In august 2011 I bought a distributorship and paid $4300.00 for the rights to sell there cookies in my area,Well after about three mo. I was loosing so much money from lots of miles traveled and low volume I gave them my notice as well as asking them to pickup all unpaid for cookies which the DSM did and wrote me a credit. As it turned out the differance in what I owed them was about $3,000 due me plus my last weeks sales,Well it seems they have it in the fine print in there operations manual that they will hold all moneys due till the route sells again which it may never sell,And they take all money due and use to pay there DSM expenses till it sells which means I will never see any money from this bunch of crooks,I figure I lost around $10-12 thousand in about three mo..So buyer beware of this scam.

Yes I too investigated a route distributorship in Canada, to buy into but after asking for solid numbers and details to base a purchase decision on, Voortmans stopped emailing me on getting this route. That was a huge red flag in itself. I was ready.
My team of corporate designated accountants reviewed all the info and had concerns over profit and loss, size and quantity of accounts, stale inventory, risks to Distributor and support. Google had many reviews and complaints that should of been addressed as well. I was disappointed but happy to walk on this one. Always get an accountant to review your projects! Be safe.
Still looking for a straight up growth development route.

I came across this when I was looking at a route in Eastern canada. But not really sure I want to look into it any more.
Are you on the level when you say you took home $43,000. Is that really all you make as a business owner. What if you truck broke down? I am not trying to be rude. Just trying to see the whole picture. Thanks.

Route not covered

This is not really a rebuttal & I have no doubt they paint a pretty picture of route sales - but if I were putting down a few grand for something I would read the fine print & probably even have an attorney peruse the contract first. That said, this is ironic because I was on the internet looking for Voortman cookies because I can no longer find the kind(s) I want. I have looked in three or four stores & they don't have much. If any.
After reading a few comments I noticed someone mentioned you were in Texas so I looked back & found you were in Amarillo. So am I. So you or someone else with this route is leaving a lot of business on the ground here. There are tons of stores here & I don't know if they should be sold locally or corporately -both I figure. I wish someone would get on the stick I have to order everything on the internet anymore when I much prefer to buy locally.

THE COOKIE MAN

I also must disagree, I bought my voortman route 1.5 years ago for 17k and have grown my buisness from 180k year in sales to 240k. You are buying a career but keep in mind it is all about inventory management. If you dont take care of your route or manage your inventory correctly then you will have to pay for it when it comes to settling up with the company. Settlements usuallly are 1mo and sometimes 2mo. There are many people that pay ungodly amounts to go to college without the gaurentee that they will find a job. Essentially buying a career! If you have never done this type of work then you probally should go get a job at walmart and not invest the money. I am averaging 875.00 week!!!! Yes I have a large territory but my expenses are a very minimal and as far as i am concerned if you cant buy the route outright you have no buisness being in it. Winners win and loosers loose so which are you? I make 42k a year for a 17k investment. And i agree that i hope i can find a route that one of you idiots have walked away from so that i can retire that much earlier. Or maybe you should go to college and spend 80k to come out and make 40k a year. SMH and LMAO DUMMIES

Dorothy:You are so right about the Voortman District Managers,They lie big time to sucker ANYONE to take a route that they know is not making money just so they can get off the route. This company makes more from selling bad routes than they do selling cookies. I wish more people would come foreward and tell there storys about Voortman and how they got screwed out of a lot of money,Maybe a class action suit would be in order.

Don't buy a Route they will not stand behind you they stay up in their country of Canada and screw the American people out of their money.
In the beginning they promise you the world until you are so confused about the way the company pays you that you always end up owing them.
Not only do they sell a bad route they also have very crooked District Managers that tell you what they think you want to hear but in the end they are always stand behind the company (by the way did I say they were from Cananda)
Did I also say that they sell a very bad cookie something that a child could make in a easy bake oven.

I must disagree with you. I bought a Voortman route that was being poorly serviced and only doing $2000 a week in sales. By delivering good service to my stores I built the route up to over $7000 per week. Maybe you are in the wrong business? I wished I lived in Texas so I could buy your poorly run route and build it up to make money!!!
