Went to the courthouse to meet with Lisa from Wakefield & Assoc. regarding a summons for fees from an apartment I previously lived at.  Some of the fees were bogus so I did not feel I should pay for these.  Being charged $100 for apartment keys that I returned and $106 for 3 days worth of rent when I was no longer there, plus a few smaller erroneous fees; it just wasn't right that I had to pay for these items. I originally tried to settle with the apartment complex when the charges were originally sent to me, but they ignored me.

Three years later and currently being unemployed due to being laid off, I tried to settle with Lisa at the courthouse. The original bill of $650 was now up to $1300, I only admitted to $300 of the original $650. I said I could give the $600 cash I had for rent and put my rent on my credit card instead (therefore maxing out my card) to settle the matter.

Lisa was rude from the beginning. Her demeanor was cold and snotty. She said she could only take off 20% from the $1300; which having dealt with collections in the past I know this is a crock.  I counter offered a 40% reduction and she said she did not know if she could get this,  but would bring it to the client.  The attorney that was in the room with us agreed that there was a great possibility the client would reduce the bill 40% and also agreed to have Lisa make this attempt.

It was decided that they would go ahead with the judgement and put in for the 20% off, but that Lisa would still make the attempt to get it reduced by the additional 20%.  She gave me her card and told me to contact her on Feb. 10th to find out what the client said. There was nothing else I had to do that day since I was not going to contest the decision.

Here it is February 10th and I contacted Lisa at Wakefield & Assoc. and this woman needs to be fired!!! She is a liar!!! She IMMEDIATELY got nasty with me saying that the judgement was already entered for the full amount and that I was supposed to file an answer with the court the day we were there and that I was only offering them $35 and that was no where near the amount I was being charged!

I presumed she was confusing me with someone else since there was no way I was offering just $35. I brought my paperwork with me to court on the 2nd showing I was accepting $300 of the $650 and would settle with the $600, but she just kept yelling at me telling me that I didn't offer anything else and I have to pay everything now and that she never said she would try to get the amount reduced! COMPLETE and ABSOLUTE LIAR!!

She proceeded to say that a garnishment had already been entered for the amount; which I'm not employed so I don't see how that could be happening and just proceeded to be nasty with me and hung up!

She completely lied to me on the 2nd so that I would just walk away and not take the issue to court where I might have actually won since I had witnesses that I turned in the keys and was out on the 3rd and some other info as well.

This company should be reprimanded for its shoddy dealings and lying employees!

Not one time during the conversation I had with the very unprofessional associate of this organization did I swear! Not once! Again she lied. I have a very more professional demeanor than that.

The conversation I had with her a few weeks prior was very short. When I called to try and settle the matter prior to the court date her words were, "You should have contacted us sooner. Its too late now."  That was the extent of our conversation, literally. Again, this person lied saying we had a different type of conversation weeks earlier.  I also SPECIFICALLY asked her if she was the one in court to which she replied YES. She keeps trying to make herself appear better than she is, but all she continues to do is lie.

It absolutely disgusts me that an organization would have such an awful lying type of person employed to deal with the public.  I will tell everyone I know about Wakefield & Associates and what type of organization they are and how this employee did not do her job and also how she treated me.  I've dealt with collection companies in the past and have NEVER, EVER been treated the way Lisa treated me!

Also the way she keeps talking about "privacy" is just a cover for her.  I've already stated in my original report what the case was.  I was being billed for charges from an apartment complex that I was not responsible for. I already stated some of the charges were valid, but some were false and it was not right that I be made to pay all those false charges. I tried years earlier to work an agreement with the complex "The Willows" in Lakewood, but they chose to ignore me. There's nothing more to it than that. Period.

Certainly I am again at a disadvantage as I am unable to reply with specifics as to the nature of basis of the dispute due to privacy issues.

When this person called me,  she asked if I was the person to whom she had spoken.  I HAD HAD a PREVIOUS conversation with her many weeks earlier.  This is when the conversation regarding the $35 took place. When she called again, she did not ask if I was the one to whom she had spoken at court-- only if she had spoken with me previously,  to which I replied that she had.  When we spoke on that earlier date we had a very professional conversation in which I explained all of her options.  When she called AFTER  the return date,  she did not realize we had spoken on the phone previously,  and thought I was the person to whom she spoke at court because she had a card with my name on it.  I would have had no reason to tell her I was at court, I only told her that we had spoken previously which we had.

I am not interested in an internet battle. There are too many variables that I may not address due to privacy issues that it would be futile.   If the reporter had allowed me to explain where she was in error,  rather than cussing  and swearing at me as I tried to explain, we may have had a productive conversation. This was unfortunately not the case.   I have been in this position for over 15 years.  I DO NOT lie, and will take issue with a Defendant who claims that I do.

Apparently when confronted with the fact that her entire report was erroneous as I was not present in court that day,  she felt the need to alter her story to say that I told her that I was.   Nice try, but faulty and very transparent.

The ONLY statement with which I will agree is that it was a very unpleasant conversation with someone obviously very confused.

Another unpleasant conversation.

There is nothing in my report that I have lied about.  I contacted Lisa again this morning after receiving her message on my answering machine last night.  She NOW is disputing the FACT that she said yes when I asked her if she was the one that was in court last week.  She does NOT let you talk and will talk over you, yet if you talk over her she raises her voice and asks to be able to speak.  She does not give you the courtesy to do so yourself. I did in FACT ask her yesterday if she was the one that was in court; if she answered yes inadvertantly because she wasn't even listening to what I was saying, that's not my fault because my question was quite clear. I stand by this.

Today when I was trying to explain to her that she told me yesterday that I had only offered $35, that was about all I could say because she just started talking over me and not letting me say a word.  This woman was absolutely rude and unprofessional to me. She said she was going to have her lawyer contact me because of my report.  Again, nothing in my report is inaccurate or libelous.  I'm stating facts and the facts are that she said "Yes" when I asked if she was the one in court; whether she was or was not the woman there is absolutely irrelevant because, once again, when I asked the question she said "Yes".  Its a fact that this woman is rude and unprofessional to me because she does NOT let you talk.  She does NOT let you explain anything because she is too busy talking over you. These are facts and not lies.

She does not have the facts herself.  Where she got that I only offered $35 out of $1300 is absolutely beyond me! I was calling to try and settle a bill and this woman basically attacked me.

During our brief conversation this morning when she asked to speak I sat quietly and let her talk, yet when I tried to talk she IMMEDIATELY started talking over me which made me raise my voice and ended up with me hanging up on her.  I see no point in trying to reason with someone who is absolutely unreasonable.

This woman has caused me emotional distress the past two days.  I have not lied in my statements therefore I am not being defamatory. This woman lied to me and was rude to me from the beginning.

I do NOT abuse my First Amendment right. I am stating facts.

LIBELOUS CLAIM

AUTHOR: las28 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 10, 2010

I AM Lisa with Wakefield & Associates Inc.  I DO NOT appear at return dates such as the one mentioned in this report.  I did NOT speak with this person on February 2.  I have called this defendant and asked that she might return my call so as to rectify this matter, and direct her to the person to whom she DID speak on this date. It was NOT me.   It is my understanding that this person was given my name at court and was told to call me. Apparently this is how she got my name.   There are a number of inaccurate and libelous statements contained  in this report.  Due to Federal privacy laws I am unable to discuss specifics of this person's case.  I would suggest however, that this person contact our office AT ONCE so that she might get the facts corrected,  and retract this LIBELOUS and misleading report. If not, I will be forced to consult an attorney regarding these inaccurate and LIBELOUS statements.
