I received a phone call on Tuesday April 1st, 2014... Yes on April Fool's day. This call was from several different transfers on the line.
This person named Andrew Warner employee #20891, told me that I was chosen for a gift card from Walmart. He also said that since I do most of my shopping there and help with there revenue, that this $100.00 gift card for me to have. So I said ok and what is this for again. He stated that I shopped at Walmart and I was being rewared for doing so.
I said ok, how does this work. He said that my gift card was for $100.00. to be use at Walmart as a gift. He said there is $60.00 for groceries and $25.00 for dinning. I said ok that only adds up to $85.00. He seem to ignore that comment several times and proceeded with call to get more information. He said he would have this gift card delivered to me Monday morning am. I would pay a fee for shipping and handling of $4.00 to the ups gentlemen delivery the gift card. At first I said can I pay him in cash. He said I would have to swipe my credit card.
I said I don't have a credit. He says you don't have an old credit card around where you can give the experation date that has a zero balance? I said no, I don't have any credit cards, all I have is a debit card and there is no zero balance. I use this card for my checking account. I only have a debit.
So then I realize that he can't deliver this on Monday morning, because I will be at work. And he won't take cash. So I said we have to changed the delivery date. He replies no problem, I just need to verify information. I said ok what do you need.
He asked for the correct spelling of my name and my address, which I proceed to give him. Then he asked me for the experation date for card and the numbers so he can put them into the system to verify I have an account. I said no I am not going to give you this information. When you deliver the gift card, I will use my card and pay the $4.00.
He said that I needed to give him the information for receiving the card, and he was going to transfer me to his manager to confirm the information for delivery. So I was already on the computer while he was talking to me and pulled up Walmart Smart Shoppers. When I pulled this up I was looking for the correct information about this site and the gift card that I earned.
While looking at the site I saw a SCAM had been reported with some of the same information about the call I was on. So I told him I was on line and saw the word SCAM and I wasn't going to give him my information. Then he replies what is hold you back, You are getting a $100.00 gift card for shopping at Walmart. I said no I was not going to give him my information one more time, he asked why and I said because on the web site shows a SCAM. So then he proceded to give me his information and a phone number of 855-815-7059. But he said if I hang up then I would no longer be elibable for this gift card. So then I said well that is just the way it is. He tried once again to get my information but I said no and hung up the phone and reported this information to you.
I was surprise that he used his first and last name and gave me a number to call. So the end result I did not get my $100.00 gift card.
But I do want to say that I do shop at Walmart alot and like their prices.. But if this a scam I might think twice before I go there again. Sad for them if that happens.

So, let me see if I follow your logic. A scammer, someone whom you know was deliberately lying to you, said he was connected with Walmart and you believe that part? Are you serious?
I'm astounded that you can make any connection between this scam attempt and Walmart. If I called to scam you and said I was the CEO of General Motors, would you decide againt ever buying a Chevy?
