WalMart Visa Money Card Walmart Your Walmart's Visa Gift Card could already be Expired: Expiration Bait and Switch Logan, Utah

I bought a Walmart Visa Gift Card about 6 months ago. Today (03-05-10), I opened my brand new packaged card at the Home Depot counter and gave it to the cashier. He said it was expired! And he showed me the card which said Valid thru 12/09.

I was confused because I knew it hadn't been a year yet. So, when I got back in the car, I looked at the packaging and sure enough it said Exp Date: 11/30/2010.

I went straight to Walmart customer service. I was told that they only sell the cards and I had to call the customer service number listed on the card and the outside packaging.

I immediately called the number. It was automated, so my problem wasn't listed in the many menu items. I tried 0 for operator to talk to a live representative. But, that number was invalid. I called 6 times to try to get help for my problem. I was told for futher help go to www.walmartgift.com.

When I got home, I went to the website which referred me to the same customer service number.

What a total scam! This is a bait and switch if I've ever seen one. You can't open the package and see the card before you buy it. So, you trust that the expiration listed on the outside of the package is telling the truth about the card. But, after you buy the card, you see it has already expired 11 months early!
