We prepaid $1500.00 for them to help us get a loan remodification with GMAC.
We would owe another $1000.00 if and when they got a modification. We still have the contract.
In Walsh Street Financial disappeared. Through diligent research, Google searches and calling every number I found, I found Ken Weathersby at a new company, National Relief Consultants. He had the file and he promised to keep working on the file until it was done.
Today, Sept 15, 2009 a man Brad Forbes calls me. He tells me he is with National Relief Consultants he says Ken Weathersby has left the company to care for his ill wife and now Brad has my file, but National Relief Consultants will not do any more work on it until I pay $1000.00. He says it is the $1000.00 we originally owed on the contract with Walsh Street Financial.
Brad tells me that Walsh Street Financial was shut down by the "FEDS" and National Relief Consultants kept hundreds of files to keep them from getting further ripped off. He says that National Relief Consultants was always the supervising agency for Walsh Street Financial and that is why NRC took over the files. NRC has closed a lot of files and the people who got the loan modifications were angry about the Walsh Street Financial boondogle and refused to pay the other $1000.00 from the contract. Brad says he is holding $180,000.00 of unpaid contracts.
National Relief Consultants has decided that from now on they won't do any more work unless the people pay up front $1000.00. That is why he called Us.
I tell him this sounds like a scam. He obviously has the file, but I got a letter last week from GMAC that says they looked at our case and decided not to do a remodification of our loan because we had no late payments and the mortgage payment was below 31% of our income.
Brad gets another man on the line, a Leonard Bangs. He insists our file is still open and waiting for a income evaluation. He quotes dates and names of calls and results. He would have to see the letter to help us further. He insists NRC is still in California even though Brad's call came from Minnesota.
Leonard reiterates everything Brad Forbes had said and again insists we owe $1000.00 and must repay in increments of at least $200.00 a month until it's paid off. Leonard offers to take $700.00 as payment in full. He says they have a lot of clients on payment plans, some for as little as $100.00 a month.
I fax the GMAC letter to Leonard Bangs. He calls back and says something about GMAC having an old income level from our original filing in 2008 and appealing the decision based on new information since I lost my job in January 2009.
Leonard says he'll be happy to help us when we make the payment.
I say this sounds like Blackmail. NRC won't do any more work unless we pay money and then what will they do? We insist that we have never had a contract with National Relief Consultants and to do anything, we must have a new contract spelling out what they will do for this money. We ask if the same deal applies as with the original contract, that the $1000.00 was refundable if no loan modification is made. They say NO. We don't have any refund policy. Their company now asks for $4000.00 up front with no refund policy.
We finally tell him we must discuss this. Email or fax a contract.
I started doing research to find if there is any reports of Walsh Street Financial being closed by the feds. Funny thing Brad Forbes is the Sales Manager of Walsh Street Financial.
We get this email from Scott Schaefer, a new person we've never spoken too.
Here is the attached ammendment to your original payment contract. Your current outstanding balance is $1,000.00.
We have approved a 10 month cycle at $100.00 a month but encourage ou to pay off as soon as possible. Call or E - mail back with any questions and sign and send back with our first payment by Morning. I will get this file back into proessing as soon as I hear from you.

I can't copy it, but the contract is just a payment plan, no outline about what they will do.
I will see what happens.

Do not pay this company anymore money. While Brad and the rest of the crew are very slick salesman they are going to rip you off again! Think about this, if they were always the supervising company of Walsh Street then why didn't they stop them from ripping you off and getting shut down by the "FEDS" in the first place. If you haven't paid them yet, do not talk to them again. If you have paid them again contact the San Diego County District Attorney immediately, these people need to be stopped.
