Called them based on auto trader ad . made deal - obtained financing - spoke to salesman first thing in the morning as my son had to drive 90 miles to pick up car - everything was fine - told me to have him come out to pick up car - our bank rep came to my office with their check to overnight to them - when my son got there (1 1/2 hours to get there from when the salesman called me) they were just finishing selling it to someone else who offered them more than our deal - when is a deal not a deal - at this disgrace of a dealership.
3 HOUR travel - a full tank of gas and they sell a car committed to us out from under him - and could care less... they have no remorse... run from this dealership - I can only imagine what would happen there if there was a problem with a car!

amazing how self important people think they are!

sigh.. self delusion IS an illness: (a poster writes) After writing my second response, as I always do, I try to mentally predict what the response will be. OMG - LOL - you can usually achieve orgasm when masturbating to your own fantasy. BUT the facts are you blew it here chum - you answered some mythical scenario you made up ... and are in denial still with your post (second answer) .. nothing changed in the story - nothing will - you have no dog in this race bubba - and not enough intellect to know that you are only digging yourself further into the "drivel" category.
Anyone can post on the internet.. but usually a good troll uses facts to back up their trolling - facts in evidence.. not in their head.... learn a lesson mr "good and bad life experiences" ... and stop trying to justify that you made a mistake in your post to my observation on this dealer - you only make yourself look lame(r).
PS: Mr SelfImportant .. no one said I would rely on a carfax from a dealer - stop insuinuating your interpretation into someone else's post - though most of the time the ones a dealer gives you are fairly accurate (since you get to keep it and compare if a problem arises) ... however - ANYONE can order one directly from carfax - all you need is the vin number and a couple extra bucks .. and you should order one direct in any case ... compare what you get if you want - the carfax version is usually a tad more complete. As to "take it to your mechanic" .. good advise when buying an out of warranty auto near your home .. but to all the readers - "Warranty trumps your mechanic" .. ford dealers selling ford will service it under warranty - usually long prior to sale as that is how they make most of their money (service) ... and somehow I can see you asking a dealer "can I drive this 600 miles to home and back to have my mechanic check it out - though I realize it is under warranty" ....????
OH - A carfax from carfax WILL tell you that the car was a "lemon law" buyback - even if you are not too sure why it had 20 or so service calls shown in the document... so will the title by the way.... so will state of FL law...
Jim - give it up .. go troll someone on your level... you are way out of your league here... now analyze this - a great spokesman/philosopher once said:
There is a seat for every a**hole and an a**hole for every seat...... I think you know that the former is NOT where you fit...

Jim - who lives in Lumberton NC? (ooops - another mistake)
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, April 04, 2010
One further observation - Jim - are you a internet troll for the sake of trolling? Do you not even read the signature prior to commenting on it? Another faux paux of yours -
Lincolnton NC Jim - not Lumberton NC
Lincolnton - 10,000 residents - Ford dealer closed up 4 years ago - home to 40 used car dealers and one chevy/chrysler dealer (same company) and one Buick/GMC dealer -used car dealers mostly specialize in cars with over 100,000 miles on them - city is a tad devestated by the closing of the mills and furniture companies - nice place for my warehouse by the way - good people - good employee base - leave my car unlocked durning the day - never touched! All in all - a nice county to live in.
Lumberton - a town of 20,000 people - no idea what car dealers - no idea why you mentioned it.
So MR JIM ... you can rant and rave - pretend to be something you are not (intelligent) - comment about made up facts - but your own words can not escape you .. you didn't even get the city I live in right - great attention to detail their bubba .. nice work! (LOL) - and what was your dog in this race? Simply to show the world that Jim from Orlando was something special? - sorry pal - you failed.

After Writing...
AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, April 04, 2010
After writing my second response, as I always do, I try to mentally predict what the response will be. In a few cases, the original poster will see the points and understand the points I've made, which by the way are often a result of a lifetime of experiences both good and bad. Then all too often, the original poster will take the "who do you think you are" attitude, tells about how experienced they are and all their alleged accomplishments and then in some way continues in their way of snide remarks against the person who tried to talk common sense to them in the first place. And interestingly enough, when I point out the errors used as they admitted in their original posting, surprise, surprise the story suddenly changes!
For all of you eavesdropping on this, always remember, it is NEVER a good idea to buy any used car, sight unseen on the internet. Sending off your money to somebody you don't know to buy a car you've never seen is plain foolishness. One more thing, CARFAX. There have been more than enough reports on this website and others which should caution you in placing faith in CARFAX. There have been many reports of dealers using phoney CARFAX summaries. Although the premise is good, whether it by the result of incompetence or deliberate fraud, CARFAX in my view shouldn't be taken as gospel. The BEST WAY to check out a used car is to have your own mechanic go over it. If the dealer won't let you do this, then you walk out. If your mechanic finds problems and you still want the car, you tell the dealer you will buy the car when and if its fixed and your mechanic goes along with the repair. You don't give money to the dealer until its fixed. A reputable dealer will fix the car rather than having junk on his lot whether or not you buy. Giving money in advance of repair with promises by the dealer to make repairs "in a week" is again asking for problems. Simply go thru these reports on this website. Of course, all this is null and void if you are throwing common sense out the window and sending money off to buy a used car over the internet...a car you've never seen!

Sanctimonious drivel?
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, April 03, 2010
You and your son were recipients of a gift...the gift of time to evaluate this process and how it was handled. You have the option to take him aside and show him how lucky he was to not get this car. You and him can spend quality time looking locally for a car and you can teach him how he should protect himself by properly buying and having the car checked out. Of course the other alternative is for you to go off kicking and stomping your feet, calling me names because I had the guts to tell you how it is and how much of a mistake you were making. The choice is yours!
Jim - guts? sanctimonious drivel is not guts - it is well sanctimonious drivel.... I have not yet begun to call you names - just point out that your answer had nothing to do with the facts. Kicking and stomping my feet? LOL .. you really connect the dots well there Jim - problem is - this is not a game of connecting the dots - it is a game of facts and logic... try sticking to that sometime.
Now how many children do you have Jim to talk about spending quality time? How would you know what quality time I have or have not spent with each of my 3 children. Enough to instill in them right and wrong - and values - when they ask my help to buy a car, as I have a tad more experience then they do - that is a compliment - though each is fully capable of buying a car on their own - they learned enough from their foot stomping dad to ask and evalute together ... 2 have masters - the other is working nights on his masters - one is working on a PHD.. all have great jobs... I think living in mickey mouse land has made you a tad juvenile. Don't lecture me on your made up nonsense - it is not asked for , appreciated or warranted. In fact the mistake was yours - and it shows in glaring letters.
As to taking a car to a mechanic?.. well I do trust (somewhat) carfax - as well as the fact that the auto in question still had over a year and a half and 20,000 miles of warranty left - the only kind of used car we consider.

Time to reread again this report James
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, April 03, 2010
James.. I am sorry to inform you that you may read information, but you do not appear to process that information in a logical or proper manner.
I do not need to reread what I wrote - you made ASSUMPTIONS about what I wrote that were not in evidence here. I said I obtained financing (I did) - through my own bank (here in NC) - no funds were given to this dealer in advance of inspecting this car, just photostatic evidence that the funds were in place should the car pass inspection. I said our bank rep came to my office with a check to overnight to them - no place in here did I say this check WAS overnighted to the dealer in advance (it would have gone to my son if that were the case).
Sorry James - but I am 61 - my family owned car dealerships in NY as did my wife's family - my son (who was 22 at the time) knows perfectly well how to inspect and buy a car - he is an adult who works for the State of Fl in Nuclear Liscensing (not a numbnuts job) and is also getting his masters from FSU. This would have been his third car since he got his lisc... not his first experience.
I think we are cognizant of the valid points you were trying to make - however - they are NOT valid in this particular discuission.
The facts are that I researched all vehicles we considered - ran my carfax reports - obtained my own financing - AND inspect (or have him inspect) a car prior to handing over a check... how you added your own spin to these clearly stated facts is beyond me.
The report is clear - after ALL this - the online and telephonic negotiations... after a fax confirming the deal - and "subject to inspection" - after the fax to my bank from this dealer with all the pertinent information - after a confirmation the same morning, prior to my son leaving Tallahassee that the car was prepped and ready for inspection and delivery - they sold it out from under us... while he was on the road - and did not have the courtesy to phone me or him to tell him to "turn around" ...
I own a fairly large business - we don't expect people to do business in this manner - even car dealerships. My points were valid - yours are based on your own assumptions - not in the facts so stated.
The end result - we found another vehicle, just listed the same day, in Bainbridge GA - at a ford dealer there - who not only was a pleasure to do business with - but had a 1 year newer Escape with a tad less equipment - but I was able to negotiate the same price. End result - very pleased with the dealer in GA - and since then - my son has had the pleasure of sending them over 4 customers as they are very close to Tallahassee - all of whom found this dealer beat the "best" price they had from the Tallahassee dealer... AND were impressed with their straightforward manner of doing business. My son services his car there also - drops it off.. plays golf - goes home - with nothing but praise for the way he is treated.
One other note James - we lived in Ft Lauderdale for over 40 years, where my son was raised - your comment about small town NC (where we happen to live now) leaves me wondering at your opinion of small town America. We find people to be the same .. some good... some bad.. and sterotyping is just not such a valid premise to base any reasonable argument on.

Oh, So Now It Changes!
AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, April 03, 2010
No Robert...this is what you said...read it for yourself: "Called them based on auto trader ad . made deal - obtained financing...." and then later..."check to overnight to them." It is clear...painfully clear...you already sent off the money BEFORE that car was even seen! So lets suppose your son gets there and finds out the car isn't what it was described. You already sent the money! Exactly what leverage does he have when the dealer already has the money?????
Lumberton, N. C. That's NOT some Hooterville hicktown. You don't have car dealers there where you can teach your son FINANCIAL COMMON SENSE by looking over a selection of used cars...checking out the dealer...and finally having your own mechanic check over the used car decided upon? I don't give a d**n what snide remarks you make, you cannot dispute what I just wrote as to the proper way of buying a used car! You've been on this earth long enough to have either directly experienced or have had friends or acquaintances who have had bad experiences with used cars. Sometimes its a case of dealer fraud/deception and at other times the dealer doesn't actually know the true condition of the car.
What is distressful here is you are the father...you are older than the son...you are supposed to know these things and teach your son the right way when it comes to financial matters and cars are a major part of that.
You and your son were recipients of a gift...the gift of time to evaluate this process and how it was handled. You have the option to take him aside and show him how lucky he was to not get this car. You and him can spend quality time looking locally for a car and you can teach him how he should protect himself by properly buying and having the car checked out. No idea what JIM in Orlando is talking about

OK Jim... just what do you think my son was doing driving there? ... post was clear - he was going to inspect the car and if as described buy it - the deal was made - the car was to be held for him - their own employee politely responded I note .. confirmation was made prior to him leaving Tallahassee that the deal was struck "pending" his inspecting car ...
Hey Mr Sarcastic (jim) .. "I know it may be difficult" .. but try hard to follow a story prior to posting some snarky comment that has nothing to do with the facts.
