I was googling "Warm Springs", and came across the lenghthy report by the fellow that had his family detained.  I BELIEVE IT TO BE TRUE.

Yesterday, my husband was driving through warm springs to get back to work in Portland, Oregon.

There were law enforcement coming up from behind his vehicle.. so with the rest of the drivers, he pulled over.

Much to his surprise the Warm Springs Police surrounded his truck, with guns pulled and told him to get out of the vehicle.  He did.  They told him to walk backwards, he tried to look behind him because of the traffic and the officer said, "Look at me or we WILL shoot you."

He then kept walking backwards with his hands locked behind his neck, he was then told to lay on the dirt, and they handcuffed him.. Searched the truck, let him lay there with threats of ten days in jail, and there was nothing anybody could do about it.  My husband still did not know WHY they were doing this..

Turn out that someone said a truck like my husbands was reported by a tribal member to have hit and run, and had a weapon.  It was not true.. and it was not my husband.

The Warm Springs officer was shaking so bad, we just knew that he was going to accidently shot my husband.. after an hour of this..a State Trooper came (luckily it was ten miles outside of the res), and SAVED my husband from this terrible injustice.

He was released from the handcuffs, dirty, sore, and embarrassed.  Not fun with a gun sticking in the back of your neck, and the cop shaking like he had a medical problem... or something.

We are going to press charges.. and find an attorney that will take on Warm Springs Indian Reservation.

More than getting a gun pulled

AUTHOR: Warm Springs Victim - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 04, 2013

Stacey, read the post I put down under the title "Warm Springs Indian Reservation above the law".  My uncle was a DC Metro police officer, I have a cousin that's a police officer, I have friends that are police officers.  I have the utmost respect for police officers and they have one of the most dangerous jobs.  They deal with a part of our society that most of us never have to deal with on a daily basis.  They still need to abide by the laws that govern our society and this particular department of law enforcement is out of control.  At no point were we ever a danger to this police officer.  When he first turned on his lights to pull us over I actually slowed down, put on my hazards on and waited until there was a spot in the road wide enough so he could get out of his car safely.  Had I pulled over as soon as possible both of our vehicles would have been blocking a two lane major highway that had lots of traffic on it.  We shouldn't sue this force for money, we should sue them for not performing their job anywhere near correctly and breaking many laws.  Since this was on a reservation their is actually no recourse for a US Citizen.  We are thankful that we're alive, for over an hour we thought we were going to be killed or put in jail for doing nothing but driving home from a hunting trip.  We broke no laws and their only reason for pulling us over was a report of a red truck waving a gun in the area.  I have no problem with a police pulling us over to check us out but the manner in which we were pulled over is described as a "Felony Take Down Procedure".  The force used was not warranted in this situation, it's that simple.  By the way, the officer in question lied on his certification application with Oregon State Police, which certifies tribal police officers.  Hope this sheds a little light and you have a better understanding.  The data never lies.  Take care.

The Police were only doing their jobs and now you want to sue them for what?? Unbelievable.  I have had guns drawn on me when I reached into the backseat to retrieve my purse.  I suggest you look up how many officers have been killed in the line of fire because they were too trusting.  Be thankful that is all that happened!~

Same situation happened to us

AUTHOR: Warm Springs Victim - ()

This same situation happenend to me my father.  If this happenend in 2010 I wonder if it's the same officer?  If his name is Matthew Sherwood then he should not be an officer, or have the certification from the Oregon State Police to be an officer.  He lied on his certification.  I would be more than willing to give you our lawyers name.  She was very good.
