Website: Mate1.com They took my money for a service they knew they could not provide.

I went to a totally FREE dating site around Valentines Day. They were advertising a special holiday rate of $39.00 for three months.  Since it was free, I at first decided not to pay that money. I filled out the profile form and began to search their member data base.

Very soon I realized that while I could find a profile and send a message to it, I could not have the other person actually SEE my message until I paid for a membership. By this time I had invested a lot of time in my profile and figured I had little to lose, so I paid the $39.

Then I soon realized something else… nobody could respond to me unless they too paid for a membership. You say: Well, what difference does that really make? I say: A lot, when NOBODY is paying for a membership!

I sent out hundreds of hellos and emails to people on that site, including responses to my profile,  but nobody could reply to me. I called the site and filed a complaint. It asked them how I could ever meet anyone if nobody else was a paid member. They told me to be patient. They said I would find other paid members, I just need to be patient. That was NOT true.

I have read numerous people who tried to include their private email address in their profile, because they too realized they could not really communicate with anyone else.

This site is fraudulent and should be shut down. They are listed under every single FREE Dating Site label on the Internet. They are worse than a bait and switch because after they get your money, you still get nothing in return.

And, they refuse to refund your money. This cannot be legal. And, this website should be EXPOSED for the criminals they are.
