Webster Bank makes millions of dollars off their customers, and it's not the people who have money to spare, but rather the ones who don't.  You may very well be a Webster Bank customer and think they're the greatest bank since sliced bread, but that's probably because you've got extra money kicking around in your paycheck every week. In that case, I don't expect you to understand nor sympathize with me (or the thousands of others they've victimized).

It only takes one overdraft fee to set off a chain-reaction of additional overdrafts and other fees that will guarantee you never get back on your feet. For those of you thinking, "Well if you just kept better track of your finances and didn't spend what you don't have, it wouldn't have happened." To those people I say... You're right... I should have kept better track of my finances, I should have been more careful with my money. Does that mean I should be whacked with a $35 fee for every charge that is drawn against a negative balance account?

Believe me, I've given Webster Bank PLENTY of money over the last 5 years or so, and the only way they will get another dime from me is if they pry it out of my cold, head hands.

I currently owe them somewhere in the vicinity of $870, which consists ENTIRELY of overdraft fees. They were all a result of the s****.>

Trust me, Jim does not work for the bank..

The bank is too smart to leave a reply like that, which would just make them look arrogant and unprofessional.

You messed up and you know it, and admit it. So no need to crucify you.

As far as any policies of the bank that are unfair, unethical, deceptive, abusive and excessive. Those are being dealt with due to all the complaints, lawsuits, law changes, pressure from congress, consumer advocacy groups and negative media attention.

Direct deposit is the greatest thing since sliced bread for the banks, since if the customer has a dispute over a charge or fees, it doesn't matter to the banks, they just fleece their customers paycheck, and tell the customer "there is nothing we can do", or give them all the time they need to "investigate" themselves. I wish I could do that with my business but it would end me up in jail.

I did bring it upon myself. I never denied that. The question is should I be burned at the stake for not being good with money?

You probably never had problems like this, and good for you. But you have no right to judge me. You don't even know the circumstances. You think $870 is bad? That's just what I DIDN'T pay. Like I said I've paid more than enough in fees.

You say to be more responsible with my money, which is exactly what I did, I stopped giving it to the bank.

Don't scold me for my issues. It's not your place. Let me guess, you work for a bank?

PURE BS!

You owe $870 in overdraft fees?  Have you ever given thought to keeping a written record of your account usage so that YOU WOULDN'T BE GIVING YOURSELF OVERDRAFT FEES??????

YOU rang up all the fees!

YOU gave yourself bad credit!

YOU persist in typical subprime thinking by NOT managing your account and accepting bad credit rather than learn and improve yourself.

No, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR....

Learn how to manage a checking account and take responsibility for obviously what YOU brought upon YOURSELF!
