The weight loss center of Beverly Hills (1-800-GET-THIN) is a rip off. They charged my insurance company $211,729.50!!! They faked my medical records i.e., upper gastro endos, sleep study, blood work. They instructed me what exactly to say and how to lie so that the surgery would get approved by my insurance company. The lap band surgery was done and the facilities were filthy, NOT STERILE!! None of the physicians wore gloves. After the surgery I suffered violent seizures and a headache so bad I felt like I was going to die, Yet, I was made to sit in a chair after the surgery because there were no beds. It was like an assembly line. There was no recover room and they charged about $20,000 for one. The doctors lied about doing certain procedures and billed my insurance company for them. The sleep study was a complete fake! It was done during the day while there were patients come in and out of the medical facility. I was wide awake. I weighed 185 when I went in for the "free seminar" that they charged my insurance company for $283.00 for, and did not qualify any where near obesity. The doctor (Maden) instructed me how to lie and write a letter to the insurance company to get it approved. The department that gets approvals from the insurance companies is a total scam. They told me over and over again, rehearsing what to say to the insurance company. My medical records were faked! Every time I went to weigh in they would put in a greater amount so it looked like I needed the lap band. After the surgery they faked my medical records to show I was losing weight when I had not been at all. In fact 3 months later I have gained weight instead of lost it.
The first time I went in for an adjustment the doctor did not wear gloves and he did not inject anything into the band. I saw the syringe - it was empty. The second time I went for an adjustment I was turned away and they refused to see me because I had a balance I owed on my account. No one bothered to call me and I took the entire day off work. Because they were so slow and inindated with suckers like me, I waited three months for insurance approval and was made to pay an exorbitant amount of money in COBRA fees. My daily calls always came unanswered no matter who I called in the company, no matter what department. Neither before nor after was anything explained to me, no instructions about anything, financial, before care, after care, nothing. I was instructed to sign the paperwork and I could look at it later. I never did get copies of anything! I was threatened that if I caused a problem I would merely not get the surgery. So of course, wanting to be skinny I did and signed anything they wanted. The lip of the lap band sticks out really far out and I am always bumping it. It is always bruised, and I can no longer exercise like I did before because of the pain. I was told the scars would be minimal and they are so huge, I am embarrassed to wear a bathing suit. The entire process from the very moment I stepped in the office was a lie and a scam. A total rip off.
