In January 2019, I joined WWI under a special promotion, so I could encourage my mom (already a member), as she prepared for hip surgery. Upon joining, I agreed for WWI to make (3) consecutive monthly charges to my Visa debit card in the amount of $29.96. My account was charged in January, February and March, 2019. Needless to say, I was only able to attend 1 Weight Watcher's meeting.
In March 2019, my mother's friend informed us that Weight Watchers had charged her credit card, without her permission, for and entire year and REFUSED to refund her. My mom then checked her statements to find charges she did not authorize either. She withdrew her membership and Weight Watchers REFUSED to refund her too. My mom went to her bank to dispute the charges. Upon learning this, I immediately called Weight Watchers and told them they were no longer allowed to charge my account. Since they did not charge my account in April 2019, I assumed the issue was resolved.
Fast forward to 2020. I am a 54yo widower with an 11yo Autistic child, work full time, and usually make plenty of money in my career. Since all my banking is online, I honestly don't have time to review my statements. I became unemployed due to Covid-19, and am now in my 11th week of unemployment that has still not paid. When my bank account became overdrawn, the bank reversed their service charges so my account could remain at a zero balance until I had some kind of income.
In the beginning of September 2020, my bank notified me that my account was overdrawn. Confused, I called the bank and found that Weight Watchers International made an UNAUTHORIZED charge to my account in the amount of $44.95. Upon further investigation, I discovered they have been charging my account $44.95 a month, since MAY 2019!! For 15 months, Weight Watchers International has made UNAUTHORIZED charges to my account, totaling $674.25, and all because I WENT TO ONE MEETING. My bank has blocked them from making any further charges and told me to call WWI for a refund.
Today I spoke with a Weight Watchers International representative who did have a record of my phone call in March 2019, but no record of me cancelling my membership (of course!). Interestingly it took her a while to find my account because my date of birth WWI had on file was incorrect. Although the representative cancelled my account AGAIN, I was told I could not get ANY refund. I will NEVER use Weight Watchers again.
Today I went to my bank to contest the charges with Visa, and am pondering a lawsuit.

Missed the point

You missed the entire point and again followed the the typical pattern. The "Oh I didn't tell you ALL my problems". EVERYONE has a "story", EVERYONE has commitments. One of those commitments needs your finances. To be totally straight, this is beyond this dispute you have with WW. If you don't know what money is coming in and what money is going out it is just a matter of time before you run into issues. In your case it was WW, but if it wasn't WW it would have been something else.
You keep going you don't have any time. But guess what the amount of time it took you to go to this web site, read the response and reespond was more time than you need to reconcile your account. Yet even though you are so busy you made an effort to respond. Perhaps you should make this same effort over YOUR money.

You claim to be so busy that you don’t have ten minutes a month to reconcile your checking account. That is an admission to your own negligence.
There is no indication of fraud by Weight Watchers. They honored the terms of the agreement.

Since when is it MY fault a company fails to cancel a membership, and fraudulently charges my account, regardless of when I check my bank statements?
Are you an older parent with (>50) with a deceased spouse and a disabled child? Do you have ANY clue how many hours EVERY day I spend doing homework, after working at least 12 hours a day? Do you live with and care for elderly parents, and a sibling 2 years younger, who is also disabled from a forceps injury at birth? I do. How dare you condem me for Weigh Watchers mistake?
Count your blessings each day, and be greatful for what you do or don't have.

One thing that is a constant on this site is how many excuses someone tries to use as reasons why they don't spend the minimal amount of time needed to review their bank accounts a day. The closer a person should be looking at their account, the more excuses they seem to come up with.
What you have basically admitted to is that in 15 months you didn't spend even a few minutes to look at your account a single time. Sorry but no one is that busy.
How much time have you now spent after the fact trying to dispute these charges? I bet it is more than a few minutes. Did you all of the sudden get a whole lot of time freed up, or did you just make it a priority? Perhaps if you made managing YOUR money a higher priority for the last 15 months and you wouldn't be in this situation now. Had you maintanined a written register and manged your account not only would you have discovered this the first month, you would have spent only a fraction of the time in TOTAL that you are spending now. It takes seconds to write down a transaction when you make it. Then even if you don't look at your account daily, you can take just a few minutes to reconcile your written register with your monthly statement.
As for the lawsuit...don't expect anything to come of it. Had you found it the first month or two I'd be right with you. But after 15 months the responsiblity shifts to you. This is why that even the FEDERAL regulations only give you 60 days to dispute a charge. So your bank may likely credit you 2 months, but anything above that consider yourself extreamly lucky.
Good Luck
