I have been an employee of Wells Fargo Financial in California for the past 16 months. I've been ripped off of my peace of mind by my manager. I am a credit manager, this position is all about sales. I had previously worked in sales for Citibank, but it wasn't as cut-throat as Wells Fargo Financial.

First of all, I never received any formal training, just learned as I went. My job performance was rated as average or fully satisfactory for the first 2 months. All the other employees had quit so it was just me and another guy. My manager met w/ us every few days and banged on tables and cussed up a storm b/c we weren't performing to his satisfaction.

He pulled me in to an office and yelled at me til I broke down and started crying. Needless to say, rather than improving my sales actually got worse b/c every time I made a sales call he would be sitting there behind me pressuring me to say certain things and not let the customer off the phone.

I started seeing a psychiatrist b/c I was under so much stress. The Dr. suggested that I quit and look for another job. Just when I had decided to quit, he pulled me aside and accused me of lying on some tracking sheets! I was outraged b/c I never lied so I decided not to quit b/c he threatened me by saying if I quit he wouldn't tell anyone I had lied! I told him I wasn't quitting but that I did want to transfer out of his office!

The transfer process has been going on for months now, and during that time I have put up w/SO much emotional abuse! I stay just b/c I know he wants me to quit and it bothers me that during the course of 12 months he has forced 6, yes SIX people to resign! Its an office of four, so you do the math on how many times he's restaffed the whole office!

The strange thing is he thinks he's had "problem" employees, he doesn't see himself as a problem manager!

I've finally had it last week he told me that Wells Fargo Financial wasn't going to transfer me and that "in his humble opinion" I should quit, after all, I'll be getting "two weeks severance"...I've been fretting ever since.

I'm a mother, I have responsibilities, I can't afford to be w/out a job for even one day! I don't know what to do, ever since the day we had that last talk, he doesn't speak to me or respond when I speak to him and he has me doing all the menial clerical functions in the office... I am a college graduate, and I want to keep my job, just in a different office.

Is there anything I can do?

#8 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Renae Coffman...I went through it all...read my report

AUTHOR: Renae Coffman - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 05, 2008

Gloria,

Do not call HR...that are horrible. You need to call Employee Relations. Call and talk with Tim O'Hara. However, I would take this to your DM or RM first. If they do nothing about the situation then take it to Employee Relations. Tim O'Hara has 28 years...or something like that with the company. One of the nicest guys!!

Stand your grounds. You walk into that office on Monday with your head held hire and a huge smile on your face. Do not go into a closing both with your manager or without someone else. Does this man treat the men the way he does you. Sorry to pull that card but Wells Fargo Financial is known for discriminative treatment to women. Wells Fargo Financial has to transfer you. They can not make you quit. However, you have to make sure that you are doing everything by the books. Even if your manager allows you to leave messages on machines a different way. I will tell you this. After you get a name at Wells Fargo Financial for calling HR, ER or notifying a DM or RM you will be named. You need to pull out everything and fight to the end and be prepared to watch your back from here on out.

Wells Fargo Financial and Wells Fargo is one of the strongest Financial companies in our industry right now. It is hard to find comparable pay if you are maxing your bonsues or coming close to maxing on a monthly basis. I know all of the great things about Wells Fargo Financial. Maybe you should look into a different department within Wells Fargo. There are 100's of positions. If you are female I would not recommend staying in Wells Fargo Financial cause you will never be treated fairly.

You can look me up on myspace or email me directly if you need to talk. I would be more than happy to help if you want. My email (((ROR redacted)))

Good Luck Gloria. Don't let them ruin you like they did me for so long. Be strong NOW. Don't look back and wish you would have done something different.

The Cards Are Stacked Against You

AUTHOR: Wellsfargoinjustice.com - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 02, 2008

I believe Employee Relations at Wells Fargo is simply Human Resources in disguise. Nothing you say to any corporate officers will ever be held confidential. I know this from personal experience. I reported an information security lapse to an internal investigator who agreed it was a serious issue. However, by the time my manager heard about it, my concerns were ruled a non-issue and I was pushed out of the company.

Wells Fargo will continue to mess with individuals, but one day they will get their comeuppance when enough people band together to strike back at them.

If you just can't stand it anymore, do not "go gently into the good night": You can always contact individual Wells Fargo officers or departments directly regarding your situation - the phone numbers and email addresses for numerous Wells Fargo departments and employees are at http://www.wellsfargoinjustice.com-a.googlepages.com/email.

Please let me know what sort of response (if any) you receive from Chairman d**k Kovacevich or others at Wells Fargo (I can be reached at info@wellsfargoinjustice.com). And if you know how to contact specific Wells Fargo employees who are not currently listed at www.wellsfargoinjustice.com, please send me this information. I will be happy to include it on my website and I will not disclose the source of this information to anyone (you can always send me this information from an anonymous email address).

Good luck!

Pressure to sell horrible loans...

AUTHOR: Russell - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 22, 2008

I too am an ex-employee; very recent in fact. Not only do they push you to make 40 calls, 8 contacts and 3 applications, they frown when you dont call enough people. The managers, oh boy...they have no place in management. They are brainless idiots that just happen to sell crappy loans to a bunch of people consistantly. They push and push until you are at your breaking point. Here recently, they decided not to pay PTO (paid time off) anymore. Rather, it has to go through the DM who as of late became a real a-hole. You could be on your death bed and if he doesnt feel like giving you the paid time off, you are SOL.

My biggest thing is the lies and the over hyping they did upon hiring. I sold cars and did other sales for quite some time. I used to feel guilty if I didn't give the best deal possible in car sales and if I actually made a buck. I wanted to take a job feeling like I was doing good and helping people. I actually felt worse at the end of the day with WFF.

If you are considering business with WFF;
-Shop. I can't stress enough, shop. If WFF can do it, then Citi, HFC, etc can too.
-Do not take the COD or Credit card. Their bank card products are the worst I've ever seen.
-Auto Loans...ok, they want you to refi the car that you've had for 3-4 years and put some bills together. You'll end up redoing the loan for 5 or 6 years. Add the time you've already had the car. Do you like it that much? You will have serious negative equity if you try to trade it in.

Unless you are in dire straights and have no other means, a conventional lender or broker can do MUCH better for you. If WFF calls you, set up and appointment for 2 days away then start making your research calls.

There are several employees with suits in process against wells fargo. Once such instance had someone from HR saying "I know the DM and he wouldn't do that...it ends here."

WFF is the worst place to work for and thee worst place to do business with. I can't think of ONE loan product that benefits a consumer. Rather, a product that could be had at a much lower rate or better terms.

Save your money, stay away.

It happened to me as well

AUTHOR: Benjamin Meadows - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 14, 2008

I was perusing through this website and found your story. My story is basically the same. I was brought on board in an office as a Credit Manager having some experience with another sub-prime lender. I was "trained" for two weeks and the assistant manager was assigned to work with me and continue my training. She was sent to another store for a month and I was left on my own to continue to work. It was difficult to ask questions of any of the "senior" personnel and my manager was too busy to assist me. I had to pass a test with the District Manager in order to go on the phone, I did so but felt really uncomfortable.

3 months later two of us from the office were sent to Colorado for a training seminar. It was terrific and I learned a lot while I was there. When I returned, we were supposed to be working with the manager once a week to set goals and continue the training. He never bothered to continue always being too busy.

I was struggling with understanding my job and frankly, there is no one better in customer service than I was. I made the calls, got the applications but it seemed as though I could never do anything right. Every time that I filled out an application, no matter how hard I tried, the manager would always find something wrong with it. That would have been a good thing over all but he belittled me in front of everyone in the office. It was as though I became his personal whipping post.

Also there was the fact that I sat directly across from him and I rarely heard him working my loans. He would kill himself for the two "senior" people in the office but everyone else's loans he would skirt by them not giving them the attention needed. It was as though he wanted the two seniors to make the big sales and the others just to sell credit cards and such.

It all came to a head one day when the District Manager was "reviewing" our applications. Something she never did, this shocked me and I felt more threatened by her than my manager. She treated me worse than he did. Anyway, while we were reviewing my apps, she put me down and called me retarded in front of my whole office! I challenged her on this and contacted HR. Of course, the first thing that I heard from HR was, "I can't believe that **** would do that. I know her personally and it doesn't sound like her." Well, that was about it, I KNEW that I wouldn't get a fair hearing because my HR representative was personal friends with the DM. Ultimately I was transfered to an office 40 miles from my home.

The Rest of the story.

To continue, just after my filing a complaint with HR I was stricken with 2 herniated discs and have not been working since May of 2007. I have been on disability during that time. I had back surgery in September and was healing nicely until New Years Eve when I was involved in a car accident which screwed my back up some more. Now the disability is about to expire and I'm hiring an attorney to help me with Social Security Disability to help me out. The long term is discontinuing my benefits at the end of this month. I received a letter from the above mentioned DM that my position no longer exists I don't know what I'm going to do but I thought that I would share with you what has happened to me.

call ER not HR about wells fargo manager

AUTHOR: Justsupportmykids - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 16, 2007

I am a current Wells Fargo employee.
you need to call ER (employee relations) Not HRWELLS.

Employee realtions will keep it confidential.
they were brought in by Wells as a way for employees to stress their concerns without being stressed out.

they have several lawsuits pending from employees right now and needed to find a way for an employee to report a situation before it gets out of hand.

ER will help you resolve the issue with your manager because they do not condone a manager treating their employees like that.
I have seen many supervisors get fired for attitudes like the one your manager has.
good luck

Beware of the HR practices at Wells Fargo Financial, too!

AUTHOR: Braxton - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 20, 2007

To follow-up regarding contacting WFF's HR Department. I am an ex-employee, and did exactly that as I had a supervisor who was pressuring me so unfairly it had made me an emotional wreck, creating an unhealthy work environment, he was enjoying destroying me, and I had had it.

"Somehow" my supervisor found out exactly what I had told the women in HR. That being said, within weeks, they pushed me out uncerimoniously after well over 10 years of service, using the "Bad Attitude, non-team player" excuse, which was furthest from the truth, but we know what hell is like in the corporate world when they want somebody out. It was so wrong.

HR at Wells Fargo Financial cannot be trusted! They failed to protect my confidentiality, failed to address my concerns, and deceived an employee at a time when they were to step up to the plate. I consulted an attorney who agreed with my accusations, but advised to simply move on as these corporations can intentionally prolong these cases, ruin my name further, and have the $$ to milk me in the process. Plus, it's not the greatest thing for your new employer to find out.

Have you contacted HR?

AUTHOR: Ray - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 08, 2006

Have you tried to contact HR? They cannot reveal to your Store Manager that you have contacted them or complained about him. How about your DM? If the guy is that much of a jerk and his store is not performing, I doubt your DM will ignore you.
