Every other month or so I get a Wells Fargo promo letter advertising travelers advantage which is "only" 11.99 per month and can cancel at anytime. It always comes with some type of freebie for signing up "just attach this label to your reply form for your "free" no obligation gift and the first month is "free" also.
Well, I usually promptly throw these in the trash but this one caught my eye as it was a compact digital camcorder with a LCD screen and all the goodies. My camcorder had just went belly up and this sounded like a good way to replace it. So, I signed the form and sent it off then attched the paper work to the cork board on my calendar and marked my calendar on the date I would need to cancel to be under no obligation, which was 6/1/08 but to be on the safe side I put down 5/15/08 - plenty of time to avoid charges.
I called on 5/15/08 and cancelled the membership and was told the camcorder would take six weeks to arrive. Well. surprise, surprise for three months I end up with 11.99 take out of my Wells Fargo account and had to call each time to cancel again and get it credited back to my account. Another surprise the camcorder still has not shown up and they are still saying its "in the mail". Since then I have recieved two more "specials" , one being a new 8.0 digital camera and the other I cant remember. This has become a vendetta with me just to see if they ever do send out a camcorder. Has anyone ever gotten one?? I was tempted to order the camera just to see what would happen and didnt want to go through all the hassle again.
I cant believe Wells Fargo would associate themselves with such a scam company. I've banked with them for over 25yrs and it really speaks volumes for their integrity and professionalism.
