My wife went to Western Dental in Victorville, Ca. Her one and only filling came out, so she got it checked out. They told he she would have to have a root canal and a crown on that tooth. Total cost w/o insurance over $6,000.00. With her insurance, just barely under $3,000.00. We couldn't afford it, so she went through Western Dental credit for the cost of the dental repair. The credit/loan was approved through Western Dental by Synchrony Financial. When my wife told me the cost of this by Western Dental, I knew it was way to much, as I had a tooth done for half that price with our insurance elsewhere. She called our dental insurance company and they confirmed that the price was out of line, AND the insurance company also stated that Western Dental did not list the correct insurance dental codes on their paperwork to our insurance company. So, my wife went to Western Dental 2 days in advance and cancelled her appointment. What did Western Dental do? Rather than cancel the credit/loan, they took the money, even though my wife cancelled the appointment and DID NOT have any work done. So now we are getting bills from Synchrony Financial. We called Sychrony Financial and they don't care. They told us we needed to straighten this out with Western Dental. So we call Western Dental Corporate, 4 times already. In each of those calls to Western Dental Corporate, lasting up to 2 hours each, being transferred multiple times, being told they would take care of it, being told that they would get back to us within a couple of days, Western Dental has never called back. We got another bill from Sychrony Financial today 5/4/2016. My wife called Western Dental again today, was transferred 4 times, and put on hold for over an hour and she finally hung up 5 minutes after 5 PM.
So, despite my wife cancelling her appointment 2 days in advance and not having any dental work done by Western Dental... Western Dental, rather than cancelling the credit/loan, took the money anyways, deposited it, and expects us to pay Synchrony Financial for work that was never done.
That is dishonest. That is thievery. We are in the process of writing a letter to the State Attorney's Office, County Attorney, City Attorney, Better Business Bureau, and the Credit Agency.
And I will not stop until Western Dental fixes this and repairs our credit in this manner, because there is no way in hell we are going to pay for services that were never done.

Finally Resolved

We got another Bill a week ago from the finance company, through Western Dental, stating balance ZERO. So I am assuming WD paid the money back to them. So this has finally been resolved. Of course, it never should have got this far in the first place.

I have seen this with other patients as well, and this is what I did:
Go back to the office the supposed work was done with your wife. Have her demand a copy of the medical records which california law requires they give you at no cost. At same time, bring your cell phone and put it on speaker phone and call the police department for that county so they can hear you do this and let them know you need an officer there to take a report of credit card fraud, that they charged you when nothing was done there. This is grand theft. It also borders on civil matters, but again a police report helps you greatly. This might get them to fix the matter right then and there, but if it doesnt, you can at least get the records showing what was done and what wasnt. If the records show the work was done, go see another dentist who is willing to put it in writing from an examination that there was no work done. With a police report, and statment from another dentist (not another dentist from another western dental) look up similar reports here and print them out. Now for the fun part:
In california, small claims court if you file, neither you nor the defendant may use attorneys. This is great as they cant use their top paid attorneys to steal from you, or scare you into a cornet to accept any of their crazy settlements. File a small claims lawsuit in the county either they are from, or your bank. Submit coppies of her medical records, the bills, and police report, and though it states not to include the cost of filing fees when suing, include them anyways as most judges will allow this.
Go to court, show everything, and let the judge decide.
When you most likely win, and huge chances you will if what you stated above did in fact happen, you forward the judgement to the credit company and western dental. The credit company will have to leave you alone and remove any info from your report. Hope this helps.

Rebuttal to WD

We already have your email address. We have already contacted you. My wife also called corporate, again 5/6/16, and was instead transferred to Victorville, again, of which they blamed this all on my wife claiming that she did not "properly cancel her appointment". Then said this will all go away in 16 to 21 days. Of course, we have been told that before already and it is now 3 months. This should never have happened, much less continue to happen after the first phone call.
We'll see, if it taken care of... again.
