Western International is surely ripping me off!! After deciding to disenroll around October 2006, I talked to my financial Manager who said all I would owe is 865.00. She then referred me to the Sallie Mae Foundation and I got a loan for 865.00. I'm now paying that back to SMF.

Not long after that, I started receiving letters stating I owed 1810.56!! I called, but as you would guess, didn't get to talk to anyone. Finally, someone called me back however she didn't understand why I owed that amount or any at all. She said she would call me back. I didn't get a call back.

Now, the collection agency is calling me. For a few days, I tried and tried and tried to call my financial manager and her director. After many, many messages left, no response. What's up with that? They can surely contact me with money I supposedly owe, but where are they when I need some explanation?!!!

Finally, I get to talk to someone, a nice guy, if I should say so. He was not ever my financial counselor, nor a financial manager, but he took the time to talk to me nonetheless. He told me the reason I owe is because of a break in classes, a 3 week break in which I did not request, nor was I told that since there would be a break I would owe money. I don't get to schedule the classes. How would I know that a break that was not done by me would do that? I just follow the schedule given for my degree. He did say that if I would have continued to stay at WIU that it would have been absolved at the end. That's all fine and dandy, but when I disenrolled I was not told that I would owe 1810.56. All my finanical MANAGER told me was that I would owe 865.00. Now I'm paying the price for trying to further my education. Enrolling at WIU was just about the worst decision I ever made. Those people have no clue nor do they care about the students. This could have all been avoided had my financial MANAGER told me about the 1810.56 + 865.00. I would have never decided to disenroll with that amount out-of-pocket.
