Western Pacific Truck School is an "At Will" employer. My job position was dependent on their advertising to bring in leads. After I was hired almost all advertising stopped. The number of leads dwindled and the number of students required to start a class went up. This doesn't seem like a problem until the corporate average of one student for every 15 leads is known. They wanted nine students to start every other week. This would figure out to 67 leads per week. On average I would receive 16-22 leads per week.

This would make it hard to start classes. Very often classes would have to be rescheduled affecting all students that have already payed tuition and scheduled a leave of absence from their jobs. That in turn would cause them to drop and go to a different school. They would have to wait 30 days for a refund. Since I was losing students as fast as I could sign them up classes weren't starting very often.

The day before a large job fair that would bring in a large number of leads, and two days before a new advertising campaign they let me go. They said I wasn't successful enough in that position, and they were an "At Will" employer and my services were no longer needed. They wouldn't even explain their decision with me.

I would recommend to anyone looking to be a truck driver to look elsewhere for school. Otherwise you would be supporting a business that treats employees very poorly. If you are looking for a job, it would be advisable to look elsewhere. I would go hungry and lose my house before I ever worked for them again.

Tracy, I understand how angry you are. But you should understand that it's the State of California that is an "At Will" state. ALL jobs in California, unless otherwise stated in your employment contract are "At Will".
