These people do truck service, but pad the bill with so many needless extras that the original reason for the job is lost. Trucks with only 7 or 8 thousand miles are routinely getting hit with charges for brake adjustment, 5th wheel adjustment, service battery, adjust fenders, and other things which a truck only needs after 200,000 or more miles!

The mechanic goes out to "yard check" a truck fleet, and somehow discovers that every truck in the place needs a couple of these charges every 2 or 3 weeks. Putting all of the bills together with the time that these tasks actually take, and it seems that he is spending about 15 hours per night in just one yard, much less the several yards that he is going out to check.

The padded charges turn a $150 invoice into a $420 invoice. Multiply that by half a dozen trucks each night and you see that just one regular customer is getting scammed for about $150,000 PER YEAR. But the customers have few other options for overnight service in that area, so even though they know that they are being ripped off, they are stuck with these guys.

I've seen the invoices, and the charges are real for work that CAN'T be necessary for trucks which are so new, and for the trucks which are old enough, these things don't have to be done every couple of weeks.

NEW OWNERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

AUTHOR: Bob Wilson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 02, 2009

I am the Service Director of Western Truck Center and Western Peterbilt.
I was not employeed with this company at the time of the complaint.

However I would like to take this opportunity to let our friends and
customers know we are a good and honest business dedicated to serving the very valuable trucking community.

I have no idea what incident sparked the complaint made. We are working everyday to insure our customers receive Quality Work and a fair price.

In the time I have assumed the position of Service Director we have implemented an estimating system that requires every service manager in our group to complete a written estimate for repairs and to amend same when
additional work is required. This enables all customers to know what the job will require and how much it will cost.

Again we want satisfied customers and above all we want repeat clients who will come back to our shops time and time again for their trucking needs.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint.
