Westgate Vacation Villas Consumer Beware!!! Bad Seminar Almost Ruined Our Trip!!! Kissimmee Florida

It still amazes me how many bad people there are in this world. I mean, unapologetically - bad.

It all started with a very pleasant invitation to attend a 90-minute seminar in Orlando about timeshares and in return we would receive discount theme park tickets.  We were told that we had absolutely no obligation to buy a timeshare and if we had any problems to call the representative that gave us the invitation in Jacksonville, Fl. at any time. Everything was so lovely in the beginning. What could possibly go wrong?

First of all, I didn't realize how valuable my being a Spanish Translator was until I got to Westgate. The day started out with me having to tell off the 2 receptionists at the check-in desk for talking about me in my face. That should have been a sign of what was to come, but still, we continued.

So, as others have stated, our 90-minute seminar turned into 3-hours. We were given breakfast and then we were hit with a heavy sales pitch, which we didn't mind because we were novices at the whole timeshare thing. Up until that point we were eager to buy a timeshare.

Everything was going good until we told the salesman that we wanted to think about it. We explained to him that it was an important purchase and that we wanted to have time to think it over, as we do all important purchases. You would've thought that we told him his mother was ugly. 

The salesman immediately got up from the table without saying a word and proceeded to go over to the other sharks, er, salesmen and talk about us in spanish, of which I understood every word. He said he "knew we were wasting his time" and that we "were probably never going to buy anyway". Then he comes back to the table with a rude sales manager who tries to sell us a reduced timeshare for the payoff amount. When we told her (sales manager) that we weren't interested, she proceeded to insult us by saying, "I can't believe how many people come to Orlando on vacation if they can't afford it." That was the last straw. I proceeded to tell them both how rude and pushy they were and that based on our experience at that location, we would never buy from Westgate.

This time both of them got up from the table without saying another word and never came back. They stood just close enough for us to see them staring at us but to far for us to hear what they were saying. When we stood up to leave, in comes the marketing guy. He was all smiles, but when we told him we would not take the survey, he dropped that smile and said, "well you can just leave." You think.

Well we couldn't just leave without telling someone about what happened. We called the number of the representative in Jacksonville, FL. and heard, "this number cannot receive incoming calls." Then we called the head office number (from the pamphlet) and were told that if we didn't leave "we would be escorted out by security". All of this and we never once raised our voices, cursed, or raised our fists. Over a timeshare???!!!

I'm so thankful we didn't buy a timeshare from Westgate Resorts. That one experience tarnished the whole company for us. It might have even tarnished the whole idea of buying a timeshare.

It is obvious that if you have something that truly is fabulous, you let it sell itself. No need for 3-hour theatrics.
