I purchased a pair of musicians ear molds about a year ago. The cost was about $175.00 for the pair. The same pair in Canada costs $70.00 for the pair I later find out. These are custom ear molds that are used by musicians to protect hearing when exposed to high volumes of music for extended periods of time. The product worked well for some months. Then the little plug in or adaptor used for the varying levels of sound protection started falling out and getting loose. Finally I lost one. Then I contacted the company and I had to pay $45.00 for a new set. They did not offer to correct the issue or provide a complimentary single piece which is what I would expect for good customer service. But they insisted they must be sold in pairs. (obvisously so they could make more money) I then asked if these could be glued in so they did not fall out again and I would be faced with having to buy another set. They said they would glue them in. I then, via my Audiologist,ordered the new pair of sound filters for the ear molds. The Audiologist then told me when they got back from the Mfg. They charged $25.00 to glue them in. Desipte the Audiologist and even myself speaking with the company they never mentioned any charge for gluing them in. So it was  bait and switch type of sales thing. 

The fact that the exact same product is sold in Canda for $70.00 for the pair and only 2 companies (it seems from my research) provides these products in the US which they charge 175 to 180 for the pair. This seems a rip off. Perhaps the laws in the US are such that they must charge so much, but I doubt it. And regardless, this "customer service" is just a rip off. The item is a tiny little thing and I'd guess they mass produce them in China for about a dollar each.
