This college is a rip-off scam beyond words. I graduated with a degree that I am now finding to be worthless as the paper it was printed on. I was told lies after lies about how great this college was before, during and after my attendance. Now that I try and go use this sucky education, I keep hearing "Not Recognized", "Not Accredited or Does Not Have the Appropriate Accreditation" .

Also, if I want to further my education, I'm stuck going back to Westwood because no one else will except the college credits I earned. $40,000 in college loans and they have the audacity to tell me that it is ME holding me back from succeeding? Read the fine print, "We give you the tools to be successful" not a degree that can be used or education that will help you towards a bright future...

Can't anything be done to shut these people down? Isn't this illegal?

Shut them down?

" Can't anything be done to shut these people down? Isn't this illegal?  "

Not really.  It's up to the student to check out a school before enrolling, to determine if their accreditation is acceptable.   What you describe is the case with most of these so-called "colleges" that advertise on TV.   I found one last year that was accredited by itself.  The accrediting institution had the same mailing address as the school itself.

The easiest way to determine whether or not a school has useless accreditation is to check with your local public university and inquire whether they would accept credit transfers from the school.  That will tell you everything you need to know about the value of the education offered.

Anyone can open a "college" and offer whatever level of education they like.   Prospective students must decide if the education offered is worth the money they will be spending acquire it.  Waiting until after graduation to do this sort of investigation is counter productive.
