Westwood College Not worth it Internet

Reading the other reports before this I can easily point the people who actually went there with me or taught me as an instructor. Yes, Westwood is a second rate piece of crap school and it is an unfortunate sad truth. It was a good school for a long time but some new upper management as of the last 5-10 years has obviously shown.

During my attendance at Westwood Dallas its accreditation went to the toilet when employees within Westwood failed a secret shop administered by the Texas Board of Education in which a staff member on what could be called the sales team told a potential student the government was not concerned with ones personal finances and accumulated funds within personal checking and saving account had no relevance to the financial aid application process which is totally backwards. This student HAD 200K+ IN FUNDS and did not put it on the paper sent into for federal financial aid. This student was obviously aware of what was going on, but did as was instructed. So this secret shopper student qualified for several thousands of dollars in grants due to a lack of information.

That was a big f-up. The DoD even stripped accreditation while I was there! Christmas 2010 Half our school population was Army Vets, they were all informed it would be there last term their army vet benefits would pay for them to go to school there, BECAUSE WESTWOOD IS NOT A SCHOOL! One of my classmates was an Iraq war vet; he worked on tanks during a good chunk of the war and worked his a*s off. One term before he could graduate with his bachelors, he was told the government would not pay for it. He could pay for it, but the government also would not pay his living expense while he attended school there. This guy had a wife and kids and they totally stiffed him.

They really do not mind tacking that 35k+ and 75k+ graduate degree on your credit though. They do not give an honest disclosure of all their graduates hiring rates. A lot of what they do claim is people who already had jobs in the field and only attended to hopefully further their careers. Westwood was just looking for fame to claim. For Example, I returned post graduation to square some things away with finical aid. On one of their walls were a bunch of pieces of paper with peoples name on it of those whom they supposedly got jobs. They had my name there! I had that job before I started attending Westwood and I still have that job! I got a degree in construction management and since I am a building engineer they consider me placed in the field under their wing. Another guy who graduated before me, who started his own business back up, after he pulled it out of the 2008 collapse, was even on there! He did everything himself without their help.

I am not surprised they are now closing the Dallas Ft. Worth locations. They are second rate schools that takes advantage of a system meant to help students and purportedly meant to only be used by the establishments deserving of nurturing adult minds. This school is a fraud; albeit their employees, instructors, and various departments in their own respectable ways are innocent of the messed up business practices of this school it is still a rip-off.
