I am a new migrant in Australia, and I am trying to find new working possibilities here.

I come from Europe and of course I have a deep accent (which it is also evident for my way of writing) because I speak more languages than English, in Europe is a common thing.

I found an australian site, where people talk about everything and also about work and jobs. The name of this site, whirlpool.net.au

So I decided to open an account. I thought it would be good for my integration in Australia to participate in public forums and talk with people. I am alone here. A wrong decision.

I don't want to be annoying, and I only want to relate my experience in the most positive way that I can.

I found a forum talking about a recruiter company that I knew for a working collegue who used them to find a job. I was at the point of use them also but after reading the things people said I began to have a lot of concerns and I express that in the forum. Some people began to put personal names and private numbers of one of the worker of this company and people began to tell that because he has an american accent should be a scam or something... not one if not more used the reason of being american the main reason for their difamations.

I wrote these people that they should take care about the racist comments againts people with other backgrounds.  And suddlenly I began to receive personal emails insulting and threatining me, persusding me to delate my comments, and leave the forum, all of this using a language that I don't want to repeat here... I brought it to the attention of the moderators, and they didn't do anything. People began to write in the forum that I was silly or something similar and the scalate of violence was higher and higher against me. I publicaly posted the threatening messages and the moderatos erase them and part of my posts. With what my stament  or intervention is not truly consistent now.

They keeping defaming honest people and myself there, hiden under nicknames and keyboards. They have private numbers and use them to intimidate victimes.

Systems of communication should be set up so that people who tells lies and untruths take responsibility for their statements, have the opportunity to make corrections and apologies, and lose credibility if they are repeatedly exposed as untrustworthy. Defamation law, with its reliance on complex and costly court actions for a tiny fraction of cases, doesn't work.

I was a victim of malicious gossip and I felt under assault. Perpetrators are using five methods to do that :

1.Cover-up, targets of slander should try to expose the perpetrators, in my case I can not.

2.Denigration of the target.Of course, critical and demeaning comments can cause others to think less of a person - that's the essence of defamation. But beyond this, the person can be further devalued by how they respond, for example becoming angry and abusive or breaking down in despair. By appearing aggressive or pathetic, the target may seem to deserve the abuse. And myself I was at the point to cross this limit.

3.Reinterpretation of the event. Perpetrators may say that they are telling the truth or just passing on what they heard. They will deny that their statements have any malicious intent. Sometimes they claim it's all just a joke. In my case the moderators say that the issue is nothing to be with the post.

4.Suing for defamation, or even just threatening to sue, is seldom a good idea, even ignoring the expense, effort, time and uncertain outcome of going to court. When you are a victim of unfair comments, you may receive sympathy, but when you sue you become the attacker. Defamation threats and suits are frequently used to suppress free speech.

5.Inhibiting outrage from injustice is intimidation. Defamers sometimes threaten targets that any attempt to respond will be met with reprisals, ranging from loss of friendship to dismissal, or even a defamation suit! The most effective response is to refuse to be intimidated and, if possible, to expose the threat.

I fear however doing this report I am taking act againts this malicious people. This is an act to release myself and that way I am giving me the possibility of not being a victime anymore. I am very grateful to this site for letting me express my indignation. I don't have money and I feel totally alone here.
