I bought a diamond unity ring at Whitehall Jewelers pom 12/6/08 they were going bankrupt at Washington Square Mall in Tigard, OR Sales clerk told me ring was selling for 11,000 and gave me 80% off making purchase price 2889.00. Next day I saw same ring on ad at Fred Meyers in the Oregonian newspaper on sale BUT IT ONLY SELLS FOR $3999.00 and is on sale for 3800.00.

Whitehall Jewelers should have given me 80% off 3999,00 not 11,000.00. I had this ring looked at by Fred Meyers Jewelers and a certified letter stating that I have purchased the same quality ring manufactured from the same company and American Express refuses to help me saying merchant had all sales marked final because they were going out of business. I cannot get anywhere with American Express.

I told them I did not get an 11,000 ring that Whitehall Jewelers marked it up almost 4 times then gave me 80% off. What can I do? Whitehall Jewelers is no longer opened at the mall. I tried to return this ring the day after I purchased it and was turned away. I would have never purchased this ring other than I was lead to believe from this merchant that I had an 11,000 ring but it only sells for 3999.00 so I should pay 80% of 3999.00 which is 769.01.

American Express has been of no help even though I have provided all the proof that I have a 3999.00 ring and not a 11,000 ring. I have spent hours disputing this with American Express 1-888-BLUE-741 and have spoken to countless supervisors who tell me that the merchant can charge what he wants and its up to the consumer to know better. Am I the crazy one or what?
