i am a long time customer of the pet store Wilside here in puyallup. i paid a deposit on a handfed and weaned conure at the time there was the baby and an adult 2 yr old. my daughter fell in love with the baby as it was flirting with her and begging her to pick it up ect. we played with the bird and not expecting to make such a purchase i placed a deposit on the baby, i was reassured by the owner herself cindy that they are banned and i would not get mixed up with the other bird. i just went yesterday to pick up our new bird, while waiting for help we went to go play with him,, the bird acted different ignored us ect, so i questioned if indeed it was the baby, cindy got reall defensive with me and said we dont make mistakes like that, so with nothing to compare size ect since the other bird was sold, we got him. as soon as i got him home again the bird just didnt seem the same, long story short i asked for advice online, THANKS EVERYONE !! and i also brought the bird to the vet today, and sure enough its an adult bird not a baby by no means, and on the bird band it says wa 06 which ment the bird was hatched in 2006. SOOO after i had all my information together and spoke with the pet store i was basically told to pound salt and tough luck.

I then took a closer look at my reciepts, the first reciept said deposit on maroonbelly conure, no band # or nothing, BUT they claimed to have in there pc at the front,, MY second reciept after picking the wrong bird up said GREEN cheek conure then had the id # of course matching the bird i have NOW, which apparently even isnt a maroonbelly conure that i placed the deposit on.
Also they said they recieved it through african northwest avairies,, is anyone familiar with them.

So after many times calling the pet store they could care less, i told them i was going to report them to the BBB which i already have , i made a police report as well, and i am filing papers in courts on monday.

After the many many times in this store and the amount of $$ spent with them, the owner cindy couldnt even get on the phone once with me, she had her manager russ do all the dirty work. even with my vet report, my reciepts and not even 24 hours later, they could care less they got there money.

So now i have a 2 yr old biting conure and someone else has my baby.

DONT trust this place the minute you give them your $$ your done, they dont stand by any of their animals or products as they say on their website. i guarantee you they will NEVER forget me and what they did to me and my daughter. i will NOT stop untill justice is served on this woman and her pet store. ALSO note they buy ALL the puppies from well known back yard puppymills, way to go wildside to support all the puppymills out there

Don't buy animals from pet shops

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 14, 2008

I know of the shop that you speak of. And I have to agree with the other responder that one should never buy live animals from a pet store. Doing so only encourages them to support breeders, some of which run "puppy mills." If you do have proof that this store gets their animals from said puppy mills, they need to be reported to Washington State law enforcement (or a local rescue organization). This is a serious issue that should not go ignored.

Speaking about the store itself, I don't shop there. The store is crammed full of stuff and there is no air flow to help clear out the animal odors. I do worry about the condition of the animals. The puppies and kittens there did seem to have clean cages and fresh water, but there just seemed to be so many of them.

Choose Your Words More Wisely

I would never support a pet store, you mentioned that they support puppy mills and well so are you. The ONLY reason you are speaking negatively of them right now is because you did not get what you wanted, if you had nothing would be being said right now. However, you went into the store and gave them a deposit, which right there was supporting them. You and others like you support the abuse and mistreatment of animals by helping these places stay afloat, I have a word for you... karma. You as a consumer have the right to file a complaint, but be careful of your words, again you chose to support this business when it was convenient to you and now that you are disgruntled you are hurling negatives at them.
