We too joined this "resort" in 1995. At the time, we lived in Lynchburg, VA and Rick had a job where, if they could get a hold of him, he had to come in. Since the resort was about 2 hours away, cell phones weren't popular yet and there was no phone service at the camp ground, it made a nice get away for us. It is nice, if you live in the area, can afford yearly maintenance fees, own your own camper, etc. However, with no 'escape clause', those who fall on hard financial times, move away and don't use it anymore, etc, it can be a 'noose around your neck' as it were. We now live in Texas near the border. All my family that lived in the area have passed away, and we haven't been to the camp ground in years!

We to got caught in the next trap of trying to sell it at another rip off company that 'sells time shares' and spent a wasted 400.00. We told them we'd even be willing to just give it away and they insisted on listing it for 6,000.00. Maybe there is, as P.T. Barnum said, a sucker born every minute and a remote chance that someone would by it, but we don't even want someone else to wast their money. We would give it away to someone who would enjoy it, and there are some out there that meet the criteria we mentioned above who would. The trick is finding them!

What bothers me most is that there is not a limited amount of 'spaces' that they can sell and they continue to draw people in and STEAL their hard earned money, selling the same 'imagined spots' over and over again with their hard sell, guilt inducing tactics. Especially young families and people who really don't have the resources to do these payments. They aren't satitisfied to just sell real spots to people for a set price, collect yearly dues from them and then let them sell if they want out. It may not be illegal, but it is immoral. Pray everyone has good results in passing theirs along! We'll continue to try to give ours away to someone who can truly benefit from it.
