Winchester Radiologists, PC Bad Collections Process Winchester Virginia

I received a medical bill from Winchester Radiology. I called them to set up a payment plan.  They told me verbally to make a first payment using the bill/statement that I'd already received.  Unfortunately, I forgot this and did not write it down.

Then I received a letter from them, confirming our verbal agreement stating, "Per our verbal agreement, your monthly payments of $xxx will be due on the date of your monthly statement until the entire balance has been paid in full."  It said nothing about a payment being required immediately.

Next, I received a letter from a Collections Agency.  I received no intermediate calls or statements from Winchester Radiology before they sent my account into collections.

I called to discuss the matter.  They asked me repeatedly if I remembered making a verbal agreement to pay.  I repeatedly answered that I did not remember agreeing to pay by a certain date, and that on receiving that letter, I understood that I would be paying once I received statements in the mail.  Furthermore, that they should have sent me a warning before sending my account to collections.  They acknowledged no wrong doing and simply said that they would forward my concerns to the director.  They refused to remit my account from collections.

I believe Winchester Radiology has a billing company handle its invoicing in Lima, Ohio.  I do not know the name of the billing company used.  This company needs to reevaluate the ways in which it communicates (or doesn't communicate) with its clients.
