Buyer Beware. This company sold me a restaurant inventory program to be used in the day to day operations of my business. In order to register your program with them, they require you to send an email through the program that supposedly pulls the computer code off your computer. They then send you a registration # that allows the program to work. For some reason, my computer code has changed 3 times. Fred Daniels claims that this can't happen, But it did.
When I contacted Fred about the problem, I asked him to call me to discuss the issue. He refused to call me and instead sent me nasty emails accusing me of lying and of basically trying to pirate his software. Not sure why I would do that. Pretty sure if I was going to get into software piracy and its inherent risks, I would pick a much more marketable type program.
The software says right on the help screen to simply contact them for a new code if for any reason at all you have a problem or change computers. This is not the case. They will not support there program. They WILL call you a liar and try to get you to repurchase the program at a cost of over $500!
In all my years of dealing with different software companies, computers, etc. I have never had a company act this way in regards to there product!
Again, do not buy this product from Windstar Corporation International or Wild River Restaurant Inventory Control Software. The company has changed the name of there product 3 times over the last 4 years. No telling what it will be next time. Do not deal with Fred Daniels.

Windstar Software Licenses

Windstar Restaurant Software like all software companies protects itself from consumers who want to steal software by purchasing one license and using it on more than one computer. Over the years we have had several attempts to install illegal copies of the software on other computers than the ones the licenses were purchased for. Our software like many others (Microsoft, Quick Books....) requires that you register the software on the computer you will use it on. During the registration process the software installs a hidden file on the hard drive which it references each time it is started. In the registration process our system creates a code file that activates the software for that one computer. If a user tries to install it on another computer he must re register it. We allow two (2) registrations per license to compensate for the loss of a hard drive or crash and replacement of the computer. Over the years we have had hundreds of people buy the software and then claim thier computer died and needed a new code. We gave the a new code as a replacement. We have also had users that claimed thier computer died several times and found later that they installed it on several computers at restaurants they owned without paying for a license. This past week we received a request from a lady that purchased the software a year before for a new number. We contacted the owner by phone and he said hell no. She was fired a month ago and took the CD with her. She was trying to steal the software by installing it on a computer at her new job. She was fired from the second job two months later. The chances of a hard drive failure are very slim and to claim that you computer changed it own hard drive code number is like me claiming my social security number has change by itself three times.
