Think twice about using Wirks for your move.  I wish I'd gone with a competitor who smoked them in terms of their pre-sales process, but was a few hundred bucks higher in price.  I made the wrong choice in trusting Wirks for my move and their handling of my belongings.

Following is a recap of my experience:

They promised that a 3rd party expert would be used to dis-assemble and re-assemble my weight machine, but the 3rd party never showed up, which left Wirks with the task of taking care of my weight machine.  They failed miserably in that regard.  It was a month after my move in that I was able to use my weights again.

They left numerous scratches on my newly refinished hardwood floors.

They used a different group of movers for my move-in, including one man who was probably 60 years old and weighed around 400 lbs.  The problem is he could barely ascend or descend stairs, and he placed his full body weight against my brand new banister, which severely damaged it.  I had to call in a carpenter to repair it... It was so bad, that he had to take the banister apart and re-assemble.  This process has caused me to go back and re-do an area of my hardwood floors.

For reasons unknown to me, Wirks removed the cabinet pulls from a very nice wood media cabinet (which was entirely unecessary), then they lost them!!  These pulls were unique and couldn't be found in stores or online, yet Wirks left it entirely up to me to find the replacements, which I have been unable to do.  This has become my problem.  I contacted them again in mid Dec for assistance (twice), but they didn't respond.

I received bids from 5 different moving companies, and Wirks is the only one that doesn't provide a detail inventory list in the sales process to validate the items.  Furthermore, the handwritten inventory list from their supervisor was completely illegible, so it couldn't be used to identify damaged items in the move.

The same supervisor rolled his eyes when I asked them to be careful not to scratch my floors, which they proceeded to scratch anyway.

My advice - Don't use Wirks Moving and Storage for your move.  Their price might be a bit lower than the competition, but you could end up wishing your lucky stars that you'd selected another vendor for your move.

We were professional and resolved all issues.

I work in the operations side and claims department at the company Wirks Moving and Storage and have full knowledge of what actually happened with this customer and everything we did to resolve their complaints.

It is true that we told the customer we would have a 3rd party expert dis-assemble and re-assemble their weight machine but the 3rd party expert  ended up cancelling on us at the last minute and we were left with little options,  so we pushed on and had one of our crew hands that was a veteran in the moving business dis-assemble the weight machine which was done with ease.  Now, we did get the 3rd party experts to come out at a later date and re-assemble it.  We know this was an inconvenience but it was a bit out of our control and we still made sure to have a 3rd party specialist come out and re-assemble it which is actually the hardest part of the process.

Unfortunately there were some scratches made to their hardwood floors and a banister that got knocked loose but we paid to have these damages fixed and they were fixed.  Accidents do happen in this industry, every moving company will tell you it’s inevitable, but it’s how a moving company handles these accidents that makes them a professional and stand up business.  And that’s what we strive to be every day.

We understand some customers are not familiar with all the different moving techniques used in the industry but we are a professional moving company and implement professional, tried and true moving techniques that lower the chances of any damages occurring on a move, even though they might not make sense to some people.  It was a shame we misplaced the cabinet pulls after we removed them but once again we wanted to make things right so we reimbursed the customer the cost to replace the pulls and we even waived the deductible to pay for them.  We turned to the customer to help us find replacement pulls because, in this instance, it made a lot more sense to have them locate the items that needed to be replaced since it would have been easier for them to identify the matching pulls and better allow them to get exactly what they wanted.
